P. о, 5 Message 7 My young friends the privilege of extend- ing you greetings on your graduation day is unquestionably a highly satisfying experience. You have just reasons to be proud of your ac- complishment. The pleasure we derive from the belief that we have shared in your development is a joy beyond your years to understand. Г should advise that you develop, a dy- namic and reasonable faith in your possibilities to achieve. Study your own talents ánd interests in order that you may determine for yourselves some worthy and attainable life objective. Where defeat is inevitable no challenge exists. Seek to avoid the despair and frustrations that in- variably follow attempts to accomplish the im- possible. Opportunities provided in the world of work are sufficiently varied as to provide each of you an excellent chance to locate and engage in some honorable and gainful endeavor. What sort of world do we have today? Our manufacturing and productive skills are un- surpassed; industry and invention have created a legion of new trades and professions, and science has made unprecedented progress in its war against diseases and the things that cause men to die—Alas, we are unable to resolve human tensions so as to live in harmony with the peoples of the earth. It is now your responsi- bility to understand and encourage all move- ments calculated to promote a more abundant peace. It has been our purpose to aid you in the development of such knowledge, skills, and ap- preciations that would improve the quality of your adjustments. Hold fast to these truths, for they are good. Our earnest prayers and fervent hopes are yours. Let HIM WHO alone can chart the perfect course take the helm of your life and the harbor will be assured.
