TO THE CLASS OF JUNE 1937 Graduating from high school has long since ceosed to be a distinction. To win distinction, however, is now as always a noble ambition. Distinction is not alweys the same as fame or wealth or success. To be genuinely distinguished is possible for every one of you. Distinction is conferred by a quality of life to which any of us may ospire. But to seek distinction for its own soke is fatol. It is the quality which must be sought. And quality of manners, of virtue, of mind, of life, follows most surely upon improvement in the quality of one s work, be thot what it may. 3 •
