Joe's ability to get away to a fast start on the 880 relay team won him much distinction. He also was a very good dash man, running in the 100 and 220 yard events. Joe was on the varsity track squad for two years and won two letters. He competed in the State meet at Columbus twice in the 880 relay, and won first both times. JOSEPH HVALA Joe caught in all the games on the varsity hardball team last year and was one of the team's hardest hitters, batting .304 and hitting five doubles out of seven hits. Coach Newman called Joe the most promising player on the field. Joe also started in the backfield on the reserve football team in 1934. Coach Yost expected him to star for the varsity this year, but results of an injury received playing on the reserves kept him out of the lineup. JOHN SZARKA Johnnie played varsity football for two years, starring in the Railroaders' backfield in 1933 and 1934, when Collin-wood was co-holder of the Senate championship. Johnnie was a valuable blocking halfback and his ball carrying was above average. Johnnie was also a star on the track team, running in the half mile relay, mile relay, 220 dash, and the low hurdles events. In addition he was on the cross country team far one year. The following served their school on reserve teams or played in minor sports: Frank Cotman, gym team; Jack Divers, reserve track and gym team; Bob English, softball, baseball, and cross country; Eddy Grigonis, reserve football and basketball; Herman Kirshner, reserve football; Mirko Rovtar, reserve football and track; Laddie Sadar, varsity basketball; Ray Slater, reserve football, basketball, and varsity football; Carmen Silvestro, softball baseball. OLYMPIC HEROES The brave and hardy Olympic athletes on board the galley, Argo, man the oars to row our class safely over the seas of life and through the dark storms of trouble. Upon their broad and mighty shoulders rests the heavy burden of carrying our class to the shores of victory. The following men will be playing a prominent part in our voyage through life. CHRISTY BARTH Christy played on the Railroaders' hardwood cage teams for three years, one on the reserve squad and two on the varsity He was considered by Coach Newman as one of his fastest men and one of the most accurate shots on the team. CHARLES EHINGER Chuck has been an outstanding linesman for two years on the varsity grid squad and one year on the reserves. He was considered by many critics as one of the best guards in the city. Coaches Newman, Hudson, and Yost, all say that Chuck is a valuable man to have on the team, not only for his natural ability to play, but also because of his grit and competitive spirit. Coach Hudson says, Chuck has the heart of a lion and is at his best when his team is behind. He also starred on the basketball team for two years and one year on the reserve squad. Chuck ran in the 440 relay and the one mile relay events on the track team and ran in the State meet at Columbus. WILLIAM CHIDLEY In his senior year, Bill blossomed forth as a full fledged stor on the varsity football team, playing a bang-up game at guard. The backfield's success was largely due to his fine blocking and his running interference. Bill played one year on the reserves and a season in the backfield on the varsity before becoming a regular and winning his letter. He was on the track team two years and won a letter in his senior year, placing in many meets in the javelin and the shot-put. Bill was on Collinwood's only wrestling team. Coach Hudson says, It's boys like Bill that make our team a winner.

ARGO EPICS Throughout its lengthy voyages, the Argo has encountered many obstacles and much strife. These hove been personified in the form of a Treosure Hunt. She thrives on biology, she lives for science, She has o 12B co-worker, o partner in this strange alliance. Ne'er a wallflower was he meant to be, Always on the go to do and to see, He is head of the monetary staff— As for personality always good for a laugh. She is small, petite, and blond, Of crime and fingerprints very fond. Whereso'er a piano you may see, There seated he will be. O Captain, my Captain— Of stature he is small. O Captain, yea Captain, Listen to him, Clear out the hall! Her long golden tresses are done in a knob; No curls for her, or stray ends, nor even a bob. Watching her strut and swing that baton Is enough to moke any band want to ploy on. An executor is she, of students. Who handles all with core and prudence. In oil walks she is willing and ambitious. Ne'er will you find her giddy or capricious. Red of head, green-blue of eye. Class officer—can you tell why? Singulorly he received track recognition Despite plenty of stiff competition. And of course you must surely know How he ranks in the javelin throw! Two girls—one blond, one brunette Who said, We'll edit your booklet yet. A charming lass whom they all call Swede, Who os head of our Spotlight has filled our need. The student leader of the Honor Society Whose merits ore ample in variety.
