Sandra Tuck, Editor Dedication wzyeiw A child is God's finest creation and man's most precious possession. It follows then that those persons to whom God entrusted the care of a child are the most important people in the world - PARENTS, Though the responsibility of parents is tremendous, this responsibility is balanced by commensurate privileges and rewards. To fail as a parent is the greatest failure of all. To Christian parents everywhere, who are the very foundation of our homes, our communi- ties, our nation, all graduating seniors in the year 1962 owe a special debt of gratitude that we can only partially repay. To all parents, to the kind of parents we hope we shall be, but more especially to OUR PARENTS, we humbly and gratefully dedicate the PIRATE '62, Class of '62 Collinsville High School W. L. The trial was by far the most outstanding event of the school year. Losing Football Coach Winner As 'Defendant' at Mock Trial The Defendant The Trial Lawyers square off COLLINSVILLE - Maybe there! is hope for the losing footballl coach after all. One was deten- dant in a murder trial here Friday and was acquitted by a jury that included members of his losing Collinsville iootball team of the 1961 season. The defendant in the mock trial was R. S. George. A jury oi 12 Collinsville high school students heard the testimony presented by practicing attorneys and returned a verdict of not guilty after delib- eration of 45 minutes. The occasion was an observ- ance of Law Day, and the pro- gram was designated to acquaint high school students with process- es of the law in a court case. The program, Trial by Jury- U. S. A., was based on an actual court case from Texas trial rec- ords. None of the participants, i.n- cluding several members of the Grayson County Bar Association, knew how the jury ruled in the actual case. 400 Persons ln Auditorium The Collinsville auditorium was the courtroom. with the partici- included approximately 400 per- sons, including students from Col-I linsville, S a d l e r - SoutlirnaycL Whitesboro, Whitewi-ight and Gun- ter. Paul Anderson, Collinsville sup- erintendent, termed the trial a -distinct success. There was tre- lmendous interest on the part of the students, he said. This was a new and interesting experience for them. The acquittal was based, the the fact that the jury said, on .-..l.1.e. evidence was not circumstantial strong enough to warrant convic- tion. . Our gratitude is our only pay check. Thank You. MR. FRED REYNOLDS Since this building was built many years ago, countless boys and girls have passed through its doors to leam to live and have come out to put into practice their leaming. Each of them left a part of himself hereg so this school building is more than a structure of bricks and mortar - it is a storehouse of memories, a laboratory of life. May the students who continue to roam its halls and occupy its rooms carry on the traditions and uphold the ideals of the Tioga School.
