Mr. Rodney Woods has been promoted to the position of administrative assistant for grades kindergarten through twelve. Mr. Woods has been in the Unit if 10 district for nineteen years, eight of those spent as the principal at Greenwood Campus. Prior to his years as a principal, Mr. Woods taught elementary school. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Master of Science in Education. As the administrative assistant, some of Mr. Woods' duties will involve purchasing, arranging title programs, and coordinating the extra curricular activities in elementary education.

Air. Pirtle Retires After 32 years Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Pirtle celebrate a happy retirement. A Christmas Retirement Dinner was held at Sonnie and Char's in Collinsville in honor of Mr. Alfred Pirtle. The faculty from the Vocational Center and their spouses were invited and a very special guest in attendance was Santa Claus. alias (naturally stuffed) Mr. Pickering. After a total of 31 years in education, Mr. Pirtle retired from his position of principal at the Collinsville Area Vocational Center. Mr. Pirtle has two master degrees, one received at Colorado State College of Education and the other from Southern Illinois University at Edwards ville. He taught subjects in the field of industrial arts. While Mr. Pirtle has spent a total of twenty years in the Collinsville district, ten of those at the Area Vocational Center, he also taught in California for one year and eleven years in Beecher. Illinois. In the past Mr. Pirtle has coached golf and has actively sponsored Student Council. In the future Mr. Pirtle plans to make the best of his retirement by spending time on the golf course and traveling. He also looks forward to expanding some of his hobbies such as ceramics and photography. K) Opening

This year's Christmas Ball took place on December 13. The theme for this special event was ’’Aspen Glow. Senior Lisa Plumlee was chosen as queen and received a kiss from Santa Claus (Jeff Ahart).
