We were entering upon the fall of four never-to- be-forgotten high school years. After adjusting ourselves to new sur- roundings and friends, we soon became a part of all activities. Our sophomore year, the winter of our career, found us embarking on every phase of high school life, from leading scholastic honor rolls to proving our ability in athletics. Our junior year, like the spring of -v ,.. .-5, gli. ,V 74, .1 .11 lid ' . , XL, every life, we blossomed out. Our beautiful corona- tion and equally beautiful prom, along with our tre- mendous class and school spirit, plus the admiration for our teachers will long be remembered. Our senior year, the summer and finale of our journey, has come. We have seen the bud blosssom into full bloom. Al- though each spring brings with it new adventures, they can never replace the memories of our alma mater-CHS. Page 30 BACK ROW: Verneuil, Diaz,. Although we cannot boast the largest freshman class, our enthusiasm has been shown by the way in which we have entered into all phases of school life. After the first few weeks of confusion and that lost feeling, we settled down to routine, elected our class board and Student Council representative, and chose Mary Alice Gon- zales to be our Freshman Maid. We feel justly honored that the band members selected one of our classmates, JoAnn Delaney, as Princess Kahok. This year is but the beginning of great things for the Class of '61. It is an honorary society made up of those who, throughout their years in high school, have upheld a high scholastic record, shown evidence of their leadership, and contributed in service. However, only ten per cent of the senior class and five per cent of the junior class are selected for membership by a faculty-student committee. It is an accomplishment to belong, as there are several requirements. To be eligible, a student must be in at least his third year of mathematics and is required to maintain a B average in each subject. Of the many club projects, the best known is the newly-established tutoring service for students who are having difficulties in mathematics classes. TH ,l . Visiting the U.N. was the highlight of the trip. lillllll CITIZENS Paula Hanks As the years pass on and students look back into their high school lives, it is Certain they will remember with great respect Paula Hanks and Bart Basola who were named the Good Citizen girl Bart Bcsolu and boy of 1958. These students were chosen by the senior class and the CHS faculty. The D.A.R. and the S.A.R. are the organizations which sponsor this project. Paula and Bart were chos- en for these outstanding traits: 1. cle- pendabilityg 2. serviceg 3. leadershipg 4. patriotismg 5. courageg and 6. schol- arship. These two students have proved themselves worthy of receiving the Good Citizenship title in all respects. Page 739 1: As you can see, good looks are the bas- is for selection of these eight students. Chosen by their senior classmates, they reign supreme throughout all the school's seasons, because they have been voted the cream of the crop and have won the covetecl place in the sun.
