ajj Vun. DECEMBER The Kahoks handed Greenville a dazing defeat Another Sadie Hawkins Dance, and the girls again have a rare opportunity to snag a man! The first band concert was a great success— Band Concerts never are anything else but We win a real thriller from the East Siders! Brought with it the Holiday dance. A suitable climax to the usual Christmas season festivities. We nip Staunton—another victory, another day! JANUARY First loss of the season—to those darn Tigers Kahoks really trounce the Belleville cage team! We hear home talent at the second Band Concert. We win again. This time Alton holds the bag. Whew! Semester's over. Now I can loaf again! We celebrate our victory over Granite's team with an honest-to-goodness successful dance! Christmas Vacation ends all too soon as we all wend our weary ways back to the old grind. Taylorville made us look sort of 'hammy, but then, maybe they're the State Champs-to-be! 15

(Racancf SEPTEMBER School days, school days — we're back again for another nine months of Golden Rule Days. Take notice of the snazzy new faculty clan. Football game with Highland — our favor. Yip’ We absorb some culture via the Kryl concert. OCTOBER Kahoks defeated by the Edwardsville Tigers. The Happy Warriors hand us our usual loss’ Aren't Teachers' Institute days wonderful5 Defeated again. This time by the Hilltoppers Happy day! The music box finally came thru! Mr. Roberts joins the Navy. Anchors aweigh! NOVEMBER There was a hot time in the old town when we burnt East Side in effigy at the Pep Rally. Feetball game with the Flyers. Well, we did score one touchdown thru sheer willpower The Freshmen sponsored the first class dance. The queen and her court assembled in the old, traditional splendor of the football season. The Jamboree came and went in a spasm of glory. Basketball season opens as we defeat O'Fallon! 14

don FEBRUARY Vandalia cagers our guests. Junior Dance. Our Hearts were Young and Gay as we danced away the evening at the Valentine's Day Party. We play the Oilers and come out the winners. Another Band Concert. More music, more gaiety. Student Council sponsors the Patriotic Dance! Our boys were winners of the Conference Champ title for the second consecutive year, so they rate a much deserved All-School Pep Session! 1 We don't like Decatur—they've a good team ! ! MARCH The Sectional Basketball Tournament in our own gym this year. We hope to slay all competitors. We're good, because we won the Regional test. Yippee, we did it—downed our first opponent in the tourney. Keep it up, guys, on to the State. Oh, groan—East St. Louis tossed us an unexpected, undeserved defeat. Well . . next year? Oh, the operetta! Wish I could make like a bird' It was so good, and what professional scenery! Why can't we do this more often Teachers have a meetin' and we get out of school. Boy! 16
