T -V1 SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Just as the fish were biting best and the baseball season was at its peak, about two hundred and thirty-one reluctant youngsters were propelled into their freshman year at C. T. H. S. Why they were freshies was certainly a mystery to them. It seemed as if eight years of school should be enough to educate anyone. However after a few trying weeks, the new freshman quickly imitated the sophis- ticated air of the upper classman and then those freshies began making tracks. - Miss Eckart and Mr. Fletcher were the competent leaders that first dazed year. LaVern Pointer, Rolland Merrill and Bill'Allan made a flying start at ath- letics: and petite Miss Willet was chosen maid to nHer Majesty.n Nothing was going to hinder those determined freshies, not even scholarship, which was prov- ed by their straight 'AW records. Again at the best time of the year when school should be dismissed instead of begun, the 1951 freshmen came trouplng back to honor the sophomore section. This year there was no fog to engulf them, and they-entered the race for scholarship, athletics, and music with confidence and valor. Miss Renfro and Mr. Rommel were the class sponsors. This time Dorothy White paid homage to the 'Honored Queen.' The 1955 fall term at C. T. H. S. was awaited with eagerness and anxiety. The newly elected juniors had a premonition of an eventful and exciting year.and no one wanted to miss one bit of lt. nDulcy,n the junior play, was acclaimed an appropriate start. The juniors also had their share of football and basketball representatlvesg and at the close of the season, Dorris Hoge was elected the gridiron captain while Holland Merrill and La Vern Pointer were co-captains for the ensuing term of basketball. Another great honor was given the junior class when Lucille Holloway was chosen to reign as Queen of Love and Beauty during 1935-1934. l Again the beginning of another school term rolled around and one hundred twenty seniors returned to spend their last year at C. T. H. S. This time it was with reluctance that they observed the close of their last football and bas- ketball seasons. Jeanne Fletcher succeeded Lucille Holloway as the chosen Queen of Athletics. Because this was the last year of their high school career, the senior class decided to make it as gay as possibleg' consequently three senior get-to-gathers were given and attracted almost the entire class. The senior was WThe Boomerang,n and again the dramatic element of the class came forth its best. The senior sponsors were Miss Renfro and Mr. Hale, the best ever. e Slowly but surely the grandest year of all has drawn to a close. 'With annua1.sen1or hobo day and visit to Sw1ft's as parting events, the senior gang of 1955 turns toward June 5 with regret, hope, and a sincere fondness for Col- linsville Township High School.
