Despite rain and wind, snow and freezing weather, the Red Devil marching b,and takes the field before all football games and at half time to entertainthe fans., Always the center of attrac - tion, the band enters the stadium with pulse ---- throbbing, drum beats, dashing red and white uniforms, shining instruments and the shrill whistle of the head drum majorette. The musical organization is self-supporting and holds an annual spring concert and a tag day to finance its many activities. Proceeds which are used for purchasing music, uniforms and in- struments are obtained from football game ap- pea ranc e s. The band this year, adding to the many instruments already owned, purchased a new french horn, and the drum majorettes pur- chased their red and white uniforms. Under the direction of Mr. Paul G. Mackey, the Red Devilband, witha membership of approx- imately 80, marched at all football games, pre- sented the annual spring concert, participated in the Fayette County band festival, and held a yearly banquet and dance. One of the outstanding activities of 1956 was the spring trip to Huntington on April 13 and 14. The Huntington band visited Oak Hill March 9 and 10, and with the Red Devil band presented a con- cert forthe community. As part of their trip to Huntington, the Red Devil band combined with the host band to present a concert for the people of that city. Sponsor: Mr. Paul G. Mackey Officers: President .........
