Treasurer JUNICJRS CLASS RECORD Working as a group and as individuals, mem- bers of the Junior Class in 1955-56 contributed immeasurably to the school program and amassed astorehouse of memories for enjoyment in later years. Juniors snared a major portion of the honors and awards at Collinsg and in scholastic attainment, club and organization work, sports, and social activity, juniors were the leaders. The Junior Class won recognition for its successful production of The More the Merrier, the annual class play. The Junior Class set a new standard for the Junior-Senior Prom with its theme Springtime in Paris. The JuniorClass conducted a highly success- ful magazine sale campaign. A junior roll call won the Girls Intramural Volleyball tournament. Ajunior roll call was runner-up in the Intra- mural Football tournament. Twentyjuniors were members of the varsity football squad, eight of them in the starting line- up for the first game. Ten juniors were members of the varsity basketball squad. Juniors consistently won Log recognition as student stand-outs and best-dressed students. Juniors had leading parts in the Christmas Program and all other student assemblies. Juniors were delegates to the Southern Asso- ciation of Student Councils, the Fayette County StudentCouncilAssociation, and the WestVirginia Institute of Scholastic Journalism. Juniors were members of the Log and Acorn staffs. Juniors attended Tri -Hi -Y Leade rship Camp, Camp Horseshoe, Girls State, and Boys State. Juniors were chiefly responsible for dec- orating the Christmas tree in central hall. Juniors consistently made the honor roll. A junior won election as vice-president of the West Virginia Association ofStudent Councils. A junior also won a place on a student del- egation from the United States to Europe, spon- sored by the National Association ofStudent Coun- CllS. QM U. q Q L A I Ajuniorwas an'attendant to Miss Red Devil. A junior was an attendant to Homecoming Queen. Juniors were attendants to the May Queen. A junior was head majorette of the Red Devil band. Three other juniors were in the majorette line-up. Juniors represented Collins High School at Know Your State Government Day. A junior won honorable mention in the Stu- dent Council Talent Show. A junior represented the school at the annual convention of the National Association of Student Councils. Juniors were members of the varsity cheer- leading squad. Ajunior won football recognition as a mem- ber of the All-State Third Team, All-Southern Second Team, and All-Coalfield Conference First Team. A junior won gridiron honors as captain of the All-Coalfield Conference second team. He also received particular honorable mention for the All-Southern Team and the All-State Team. Juniors had executive offices on the Student Council. Juniors were speakers at Leadership As- sembly. A junior was president of the Latin Club, A junior was president of the Library Staff. Juniors were officers of the Varsity Club. A junior was chairman of the Student Council Finance Committee. A junior was chairman of the Den Dance Com- mittee.
