'F f 5 . , f V -:.'.-'1 chooszng our leaders IH an open electron STUDENT ELECTION TIME STUDENTS ON THE COUNTING BOARD had their work cut out for them on election day In all 956 votes were cast on April 14 Th1s was 8885 per cent of the student body A comparison ot vot1ng percentages shows that Col lms students bettered the votmg record of thelr parents 1n the November elec tion by roughly 32 per cent In the upper four grades only 120 persons failed to vote and of these 32 were absent from school on electron day In the senror class only three oi the 119 members present that day fcnled to VlS1l the polls Seven jumors 28 sopho- mores and 50 freshmen accounted for the remamlng unvoted ballots All ln all the electron was both excmng and educatxonal Colhns stu dents had an opportunity to vote as they will when they become old enough to vote in the natxonal electrons Ns?-. STUDENT ELECTION THE WINNERS! FRED. IOHN, AND MARY IO talk over plans for next year after their election as executive officers of the Student Council. Iohn polled a landslide of votes to defeat Margaret Hess, opposing candi- date. Fred and Mary Io scored victories over Rosie Walton and Dreama Wyant, respectively, on election day. Election day itself was preceded by a week of campaigning that brought forth such slogans as Hit the Target with Margaret, Don't Take a Risk, Vote for Frisk, and Keep Things Rosy, Vote for Rosie. Time at roll call was allowed candidates and their mana- gers for intercom speeches and the statement of platforms. Interest in the outcome of the election culminated in the record vote cast at the polls. Class oificers were elected the tol- lowing week to complete the Student Council for next year. We staged the great drama of democracy.
