lf W ORD wise our school now represents modern expansion in knowledge, practical education, and character-building activities. Because of the proximity of Central Airport, Camden, and Wilson Airport, Philadelphia, the Collingswood High School student of today is familiar with air traffic in its many phases, both private and commercial. The many similarities between flying and edu- cation have suggested aviation as a symbol of contemporary school life. The i940 Knight, then, presents itself as a yearbook de- picting a progressive high school with parallels drawn from a progressive industry.

AFFECTIONATELY DEDICATED S IX years can sometimes be a very short time. Yes, it seems only yesterday that Uncle Joe Conine first came to Collingswood High School. Since that time hundreds of pupils have left the school and hundreds more have entered. The student body has changed, but Uncle Joe's popularity lives on. This affection is not without just cause, for no one has been more vitally concerned over or displayed greater interest in the present and future of Collings- wood High School and its pupils. Mr. Conine has done much to spread the name of our school, he has given his ardent support to its activities. Since Mr. Conine's arrival, he has molded the band and the bugle and drum corps, from untried organizations of about seventy-five members, into two of the finest units in the state, with a membership of over one hundred. The handling and developing of these two musical groups have been Mr. Conine's special services to Collingswood High School. Therefore, because of his unfailing devotion and tireless work in promoting school spirit and because he has so endeared himself to the student body, this book is dedicated in sincerest gratitude to Mr. Joseph E. Conine, bandmaster and friend. Six
