The movements of yesterday cover crowds clustered on the corridors, daily routines of clubs and classes, and checking on projects and parties. There is a rhythmic pattern of the joys, sorrows, excitements, achieve- ments, and disappointments that we share together. As we journey into the future, this book will serve as a key to our reminiscence. 2 All hail to thee, dear Colleton High the only plaee our interest lie; with happy voices, joy is told we love our dear purple and Gold. Chorus: We’ll keep ole Colleton in our hearts Our faces with pride, bright as the sun; But time and change will not scatter in parts, The cherished friendships made at Colleton. Bright high school days; with pleasure bright Striving hard to do things that are right We’ll fight for thee, through joy and tears And cherish Colleton throughout the years. 3 lotion ---------------------------------- ( Ws lous, { Hz 'ZJfiinlz, vii4 (Z7af(i, Rush to classes. Run to catch the bus. Ever hurrying to grasp the knowledge waiting for us, constantly alert to new and exciting ideas. This is our MOVEMENT toward education. From extracurricular activities come opportunities for leadership and honor. Education is a service of loyalty, devotion, leadership, and dedication to those whom we come in contact with. The class of 1970 feel that Mrs. Pearl S. Williams was one that ihe opening sentences describe. Mrs. Pearl S. Williams came to Colleton County in 1937. She taught at Hendersonville Elementary school for one year. The fall of 1938, she taught at Ritter Elementary School. In 1941, she went to Ashton Elementary School, and later came to Colleton Ele- mentary School. She worked as a supervisor of schools for fourteen years. With a change in the school organi- zational pattern, county supervisors were disappearing. Mrs. Williams was no longer supervisor, but she became the principal of the newly established Colleton Ele- mentary School which was housed on Gruber Street. The school remained there until the new Colleton Elementary School was built adjacent to Colleton High School. Mrs. Williams continued to be principal until she passed June 7, 1967. For thirty years, Mrs. Pearl S. Williams gave edu- cation guidance and untiring love and fellowship to the boys and girls of Colleton County. Because we recognized the importance of her dedicated leadership and consecrated service, we proudly dedicate to her, he 1970 edition of the “Wolverine”. 6 '_ z£ J- Tcrzcijial F. J i. Talford, Jr. To The Class Of J 970 As the years go by, you will cherish more and more the pages of this book, the record ol friends, great moments and events here at Colleton Senior High School compiled in this book with painstaking efforts and care arranged with devotion and loyalty by our faculty and staff. “The Wolverine” will always have a special place as a part of the record of school days in your life. if there be a means of keeping alive the true spirit of youth and our contribution to society, and the love of our school, may it be expressed through the pages of this book. “Fret not thyself because of evildoers neither be thou envious against thy workers of iniquity. “For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. “Trust in the Lord, and do good, So shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.” 8 Psalms 37: 1-3 c7 f±±L±iant J zincijial J. W. Stewart As assistant principal of Colleton High School, 1 am highly interested in all phases of the school’s educa- tional program. If you were to ask me to name one specific area of interest, I would be compelled to say “the cognitive domain , because I am interested in the extent our influence has and will have in the lives of boys and girls. Conceivably, the aim of Colleton High School is a committment to excellence, excellence in that pro- visions are prevalent iii that every boy or girl can develop to the maximum capacity. Additionally, each employee of the school is adequately trained for the position he is doing and is performing his duties in keeping with the best known administrative and teach- ing procedures, methods, and techniques. Conse- quently, the school is operated for the total develop- ment of the pupils. Good learning takes place and blossoms freely in a classroom situation where rapport exists between pupils and teachers. Growth is evident when teaching is clear and plain. At Colleton, we strive to establish a conductive atmosphere for learning. As your assistant principal, I go on record as perscriber lo methods, techniques and activities which will enable boys and girls to get the most meaning out of that which they are taught. Enabling them to form concepts, make generalities, and solve problems are our ultimate goals. Lastly, “Colleton Family,” I want you to know that there is no bar to the assistant principal’s office, other than, that dictated by the rules of courtesy, 1 shall always be available to assist you with your problems in any way possible. 9 SzcxztcvzLzi.
