Once upon a time . . MEMS! A VERY long time ago Cuabout last Friday, says Mr. A. A. Milnel Winnie-the-Pooh Cwho, incidentally, was a Bearb lived in a Forest, and in another part of the same Forest behind a Green Door there lived a little boy whose name was Christopher Robin. Now Christopher Robin and Pooh were great friends and did many Wonderful and Exciting Things together in the Forest. Of course they had other friends such as Piglet and Rabbit, and as Time went on and Days went by they met still more friends, who included Tigger and Kanga and Roo and many others. We, the Senior Class, feel ourselves very similar to these people, for Collegiate has been to us as the Forest was to Christopher Robin and Pooh. Here we have grown up together, had our Fun, and our Trials and Tribulations, and added new friends to the old as we came through the grades and the high school. Collegiate has been the foundation of our growing years, and as we think back over these years we are proud of the Green and Cold competition, the Clee Club, the athletics, the Match articles, and the many other activities which have been preparing us for what is to come in the future. We are proud of the knowledge that we have obtained as Pooh was proud when Christopher Robin would tell him about People called Kings and Queens, and something called Factors, and a place called Europe, and when Knights were Knighted, and what comesfrom Brazil. Of course, as Christopher Robin was telling Pooh the other day, sometimes there has been nothing that we liked to do so well as doing Nothing. How do you do Nothing?, asked Pooh, after he had wondered a long time. And Christopher Robin explained that doing Nothing was what you were doing when People would ask you, what are you doing, and you would answer, Oh, Nothing, and then would go on doing Nothing. Yes, we have had our times of doing Nothing, but we have also learned that the greater satisfaction for ourselves comes with doing a great deal of Something. We have learned to take pride in studying for Latin Tests, writing term papers and giving Chapel Talks-and the more of ourselves that we have put into these things the more pleasure we have gotten from the results. This attitude has developed at Collegiate and, now that we are ready to leave, we know how to apply our knowledge to whatever may come in Life to each one of us. Like Christopher Robin and Pooh, we are about to set out on an expedition. An Expedition, Pooh told Piglet, is something you go on to discover Something and you take lots of Provisions and lots of people. On the way you come to Dangerous Places and Surprises and Nice Places, and then finally, if you have looked long and hard enough and have the proper kind of Provisions, you End what you set off to discover. So, as we say good-by, we look back at Collegiate with Laughter and Tears and Love. We hope our Expedition will be a safe and happy one, and we hope that each of us will discover something to better our world-for we have the proper Provisions. THE EDITOR 8
