Junior Class As our director, Mr. Yeakel raised his baton at our first class meeting in our sophomore year. Our first fund-raising project was a sweatshirt sale which proved successful. The next two under- takings on our program were a dance, The january jump , and a candy sale which also proved prof- itable. F uw Soon we received our class rings which we had anxiously awaited all summer. Our first money raising project for the year was the annual magazine sale in the fall. Next came the Valentine Dance, Hearts Desire which featured Ray Carr and his orchestra and the crowning of joe Kane and Wilma Claycomb as the King and Queen of Hearts. We launched this memorable year of hard work and happiness under the direction of Mr. Leftwich. Bill Hales served again as Presidentg joe Kane filled the office of Vice-Presidentg joan O'Cain kept the recordsg and Sylvia Ruth still hoarded our gold. Broomstick Paradise , the Halloween dance, was enlivened by the debut of Mole's Melody Makers , our own talented hill-billies. Our next profit-making venture was the sale of Christmas cards. Evenings now were filled with practice for the play, If Mother Only Knew , in which many of our classmates proved to be up and coming young thespians. Next on our agenda was the annual Christ- mas Ball, Sleighbell Frolicsn, which was also a great success. The second semester was a hectic one. We cram- med for exams, applied for entrance to colleges, and for jobs. The yearbook staff, with Miss Rosciola, worked, planned, and struggled to meet deadlines. The days before commencement slipped by, filled with classes, term papers, parties, plans for the fu- ture, and all the last minute preparations for Senior Week. Football The C. T. High School 1954 football team had everything but good luck. The very determined coach, Bob Hackman, constructed his team around co-cap- tains, Bill Hales at left end and Jerry Hefelfinger as quarterback and halfback. Jerry copped the title of Most Valuable Player of 1954 with his mar- velous work on the defense. With a close and thrilling home game with Lower Moreland which finally ended with a 2-O score in the opponents favor, the nine game losing streak began. Then Norco defeated us by three touchdowns. We had a newcomer to our schedule this year, Spring City. They too, defeated us with a score of 19-0. The season came to a disap- pointing end with our loss at Schwenksville, 13-6. There was a large representa- tion willing to work to bring honors to C-T. After weeks of daily workouts Coach Rittenhouse picked her starting elexen and drilled them on speed and precision teamwork. Before their first game the team elected Sondra Miller as their able captain. Although the team fought hard to win they c0uldn't get the extra point in the clinch to push Dribble driicgj xr md :gf 1. ower a xictory Well gixe the girls a greater xictory though because many times when they were ready to gixe up they came back with power and force to make it a struggle for the opponents. The team always practiced good sportsmanship and athletic courtesy. With Anne Hefelfinger hitting the cage for ten of the eleven goals scored the squad ended the season with six losses and one tie. Junior Varsity Hockey Wind, rain, or snow Couldn't have stopped these future varsity stars, who were out to win every game. This team pushed through many strong opponents without any trouble whatsoever. They displayed good sportsmanship and a cheerful attitude at all times. Most of the girls on the team were new to senior high sports but nevertheless, they showed lots of speed and good teamwork. The members of this Council have proved reliable and efficient and are under the expert supervision of Mr. Hunter. The officers are president, Gerald Hefelfingerg vice-president, Richard Franksg secretary-treasurer, Sarah Creager. They have been the sponsors of several specialized activities and services. In the fall a bonfire was held to boost the morale of the members of the football team, At Christmas time the members of the Coun- ow jirm a Run 1-Mr. Hunter, j. Bachman, Kaplan, Brennan. 9 Boys Basketball In spite of having to play against some of the best teams around here, the boys' basketball team put up a good fight throughout the year. In every game they played, they showed their ability to work together as a team and cooperate to the fullest extent. The star player, as might have been expected, was jerry Hefelfinger who held the leagues highest field goal average. Congratulations jerry, we all ap- preciated your good work. Throughout the season the boys had the benefit of Mr. Hackman's fine coaching. The coach never stinted of his time and effort in order to give the boys all the help he could. It is with great regret we realized that it would be Mr. Hackman's last season with the basketball team. We hated to lose him, but wish him good luck in his new line of activity. We had hoped there would be a more successful season as a send-off for Mr. Hackman, perhaps the reason we couldn't was because the boys were just not tall enough.
