WALTER PENNINGTON Head: English Department The English curriculum is designed to meet the needs of the college student in composition and in literature at three important levels. Freshman courses provide instruction in the essentials of expository Writing, and in reading comprehension. Sophomore courses present the student with a general knowledge of the development of English and of American literary culture. Upper division courses acquaint the student ' closely with specific literary periods. The primary concern of the Religion minor is to bring the student to a mature awareness of the nature of the Christian Faith.
