Wecdahz Howard Wechsler, who came to the College of Emporia in September, 1961, as a freshman, was killed in a tragic car accident north of Emporia on October 23, 1961. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Lou Wechsler, of 27 Mayfair Lane, Manhasset, N.Y., Howard was born December 24, 1941, in Hamden, Connecticut. Howard participated in Lacrosse and soccer while in high school, and was a member of the dramatic club, on the staff of his school paper, and partic- ipated in theater productions. At C. of E. he planned to major in English and drama. Although he was a student at C. of E. for only a short time, Howard was re- spected and admired for his quiet graciousness and his studious nature by all who came to know him. 2 1? .1-.-11:24:11:ff-g1,i:fF:S4':' .:g1.:J--15' ' . - Q E-16512232 'UCL 1433 fain 'gsgmikr-bgwirggr-Dv-3.41:-5:-1Qi5?31?f1-35545-41-:gasiizl-ing:icq-51931-3 3-3: 5 ff Afiiypg' : 1.ggg,-,dug-1,7 '- L' -1--'Q-121:-' 1fiff'f3'Ea.?2-. , . -. This group leads the student body in the fight to make the College of Emporia a better and stronger college. These Conscientious members are elected by the student body to represent them and to act as a sounding board between students and administration. They are a source of energy for other campus organizations. One of the many duties of this busy group is participation in the activities of U. S. N. S. A. Student governments purposes are: to promote the best interest of the College of Emporia by improving and maintaining academic, social and moral ideals, to encourage student activities, to regulate conduct within the sphere of student jurisdiction, to have charge of general student programs and college elections, to stimulate, promote and reflect student life, and to cooperate with the faculty in the study of college problems.
