In the past two years its role of social activity co-ordinator has tended to become secondary and in its place the Student Commission and its members have more and more come to regard its prime role as one that influences and participates in college policy- making. They have also come to realize that the student government must act as a teacher, in the form of a workshop, in order that class meetings shall use correct parliamentary procedure, and to insureithat student awareness and responsibility are evident. They understand that student govern- ment is found in each and every segment of the educational process . . 75If!Lli ,ll Mar USNSA Co-ordinator And Assistants . 14 in . j ' 'XX X-.. xx' 1 , - ,259 QQ? The game was played in a heavy downpour of rain with Tommy Coleman leading the Presbies and making two touchdown runs of 80 and 32 yards. V A week later, September 27, Baker University tied C. of E. 7 to 7 here at Bovaird Stadium. The Wildcat line made a goal line stand in the last minute of the game and it cost the Presbies a touchdown and a victory. Rusty Addleman and Willie Coleman did some fine running in this game. The next week the Presbies traveled to Lindsborg and beat Bethany 28 to 20. This game was costly to C. of E. , with four regulars getting hurt. The next game, October 11, C. of E. suffered its first loss of the season, losing badly to McPherson at McPherson, 40 to 7 in a Kansas Con- ference game. Octoberr18, the Presbies were home and took it on the chin again, 51 to 6', from a fine William Iewell team. . October 26, was Homecoming, and C. of E. almost upset the Conference Champions, Kansas Wesleyan, but lost 20 to 14 in a really close game. November 2, the Presbies played Bethel in the last home game of the season and lost 27 to 3. The three points came on a field goal kicked by Rusty Addleman from over 25 yards out. The following week the Presbies lost to Ottawa, 25 to 0, and it was the first time since 1950 for in 69 games! that the Fighting Presbies hadn't scored. In the last game of the season, C. of E. put up a good fight, but lost to Missouri Valley, 39 to 26, at Marshall, Missouri. Although the football team had a losing record, the team fought hard and worked hard under theicoaching of Bill Schnebel, Dick Perry, and Gerald Frazell. ,fn f1 f fl , ' kfiiwi , , M I Q, ?, I , .ff-ww? The Presbies placed fifth in both the Iewell Tourney at Liberty, Missouri, and the Kansas Conference Tournament at McPherson. The Presbies won their first five games in conference play before losing to Bethel by one point in a heartbreaker. C. of E. almost upset the Conference Champions , Ottawa University, in another close game. Steve Muck, last year's All-Conference player, paced the Fighting Presbies in most of their games. Kenny Miller, Rich Freeman, Rusty Addleman, and Larry Taylor rounded' out the starting five for most of the games. Reserves Tommy Coleman, Harold Pickett, and Maurice Elliott really helped out when they went in. The team worked hard under Coach Dick Perry.
