They had much in common with the '49ers of a century ago, who set out into the unknown to find the rumored gold of the West. As these hardy pioneers made their way across the continent, fall found them crossing the great plains to the Rocky Mountains, where they passed the winter. In early spring, their trek was drawing to a close in the valleys of California. The search for gold, however, was yet to come, and the final achieve- ment of their goal lay ahead of them. V So it is with us, the '49ers of this century. After pushing on through fall, winter and spring toward our goal, we are now ready to discover for ourselves the treasures which lie at the end of our trek. 'waiagais . 'iq . .
