McCleave distinguished alumnus of Th , T e College of Emporia, was inau urated h ' g as t e eleventh president of 'the College in an impressive ceremony in Memorial Chapel, Kenyon Hall, on Friday afternoon, October 22. Dr. F. B. Ross, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the College, presided at the investiture. The charge to the president was delivered by 'Dr. Rees H. Hughes, President of the Kansas State Teachers College at Pittsburg. Also taking part in the inaugural service were Dr. A. Walton Roth, Executive Secretary of the Synod of Kansas, who gave the invocation, and Dr. David McCleave, the president's father, Stated Clerk of the Synod of Kansas, who offered the prayer of consecration. The honorary degree of Doctor of Divin- ity was conferred upon the Rev. Horace D. Casey, pastor of the First Pres- byterian Church of Enid, Oklahoma, by President McCleave, Delegates from forty-nine colleges and u ' ' ' ' ' niversities of the six midwestern states marched in the colorful academic procession. The College of E , e y Lyndon R. Street, head of the Department of M ' usic, sang two anthems. Miss Martha Pierson, of the Department of Music, served as organist. ln his inaugural address, President McCleave outlined the future poli- cies of the college and explained to the audience his theories of education.
