Dedication ' Since the theme of this volume is progress, the staff has chosen for its dedication, one who has, during his association with the college, been the ex- ponent of everything progres- sive, yet who has at the same time preserved with progress every ideal and tradition from which William and Mary sprang. And so it is with re- spect, appreciation, and ad- miration that we dedicate this 1928 edition of the CoLOMAL Echo to W. A. R. Goodwin, D.D. Professor of Biblical Literature and Religious Education and Rector of Bruton Parish Church lilllllllllllllllllll if ■ 7 he president ' s house and the college chapel erected.

i No greater treasure has man on earth than memories, and no sweeter mem- ories exist for one than those centered around his or her college days, and so it has been the aim and purpose of the stafi to catch and to instill throughout the general theme of this Coloxial Echo the spirits and atmospheres of life at the college in order that these days may be recalled to mind at will by only a glance within its pages. If we fail in realizing our ambitions, we hope that the reader will forgi e and realize the gigantic scope of such a task, but if we succeed, we shall feel that our efforts have not been in vain.
