Significance Of The Aldine The Aldine derives its name from Manutius Aldus, a printer and engraver of the fifteenth century. Aldus devoted himself to the task of preserving classical literature from oblivion by committing Latin and Greek into reproducible type. His editions of the Latin and Greek classics are characterized by accurracy in form, beauty in style, and tasteful artfulness. With the aid of eminent scholars and through tireless strivings for excellence, Aldus was instrumental in directing the trend of education to produce the advances of today.
