Rising from the fire of prayer and Work, the flames of light and love leap higher and higher, driving back the darkness. In the pageant, the civilizing of the barbarians is symbolized by the struggle between the graceful flame dancers and the Wild barbarian hordes. Subdued, the barbarians are led to the fire and accept the light of truth and learning. Barbarian hordes are still with us in evil and in sin. Unitf ting in organized groups such as the Sodality, the Student Council, and others, we strengthen the light within us and def fend it against attacks from the outside world. These orf ganizations also give us the opportunity to clarify our ideals, to' develop our creative interests, and to supplement our scholastic pursuits, that in all things God may be glorified.
