Here the ping pong enthusiasts meet to challenge each other for supremacy. For those less athletically inclined, noontime pinochle games are in order. At any time of the school day someone is playing the piano, with the selections ranging all the way from a one-linger melody to a boogie version of the Revolutionary Etude. When students saw the lounge last Septem- ber it had been newly muralled by members of Miss Rou1eau's Art 26 class, New furniture had been purchased and curtains had been hung. lust around the corner from the lounge is the Student Store which does a volume of business which would astound the average college stu- dent, Not only does it deal in new and used textbooks, but also COS souvenirs, art sup- plies, pens, pencils, candy, ice cream, and what-have-you. Under the supervision ot Earl Smith, business manager, the store was run this year by Mrs. Kent.

A typical scene in the COS library every day from eight to lour, That the COS library is a popular place for study is attested daily by the number oi students who can be seen quietly studying or doing research in the stacks. Miss Natalie Lapike, librarian, is constantly adding new books to increase the book total to more than 9,000 volumes. ln addition to the books, over a hundred periodicals are subscribed for, as Well as several valley and metropolitan newspapers. r y,r, ra-.,.,t, og Fafy

K fgrediclenfz This year's Executive Board, working with ASB president Art Lawson, had a year ol which it may Well be proud. The lirst annual Giants Iamboree to fete new and old students at the end of the first week ot school was held last September, the planning being done by the members of the then-new Ex- ecutive Board. Various budgets were set up for the year soon after, various necessary committees were appointed, class elec- tions were supervised, and the decks were cleared for the hosting ot the Cen- tral California Iunior College Student Government Association fall conier- ence held in October. At the state conference held later that same month Art Lawson was elect- ed president of the state group, COS was selected as the host school for the spring conference and Asilornar was selected for the conference site. With all of the many outside activities bidding tor its attention, the Board did not forget its duties to COS. Taking se- riously its responsibility in managing student body affairs, the Board worked hard to keep tab on the many activities which came within its province.
