Page 6 Of the few who see the many I sing, like a bell toiling in wind lands far from common hearing. Everywhere I watch and listen yet the quiet is easiest unbroken. From the mountains to the sea I let my heart wing, Searching out the few who know. Come walk awhile with me Learn to listen to the river Hear the truth in the Mountain ' s dove ' s Whistle Feel the green of the grass beneath your feet taste the red of the pomegranate ' s juice Touch the love of all things beautiful Know the sorrow of death in life See the outer world inside yourself You may search in every bush ' s thicket Yet the young roe in quick And no further than a finger ' s length Listen not to the babel of voices Many profess the approach But none know the way for you. Be quiet in the Midst of laughter Seek what in the life of plenty Stray far from the outward path To reach the nearest truth. A weathered guide will pass so near Inhale only the breath not taken. Perhaps you have met him, The seer, prophet, mystic Dressed in the robes of life You will know him By his coat of many colors The expression on his many faces The single touch of his many hands. Yet this speaking must be learned, First look with natural eyes. The cherry blossomed crowded lanes.
