Prediction: A music teacher Remembered for: Her wonderful help to all of US Because You're Ours MR. MELVIN ORTH, Sponsor Prediction: English Teaching Remembered for' His easy going wa 4 . ' , YS We Can't Get Along Without You One of our most pleasurable pastimes as graduating seniors is looking 3213112 0Ve1' 121319 fyerilrs of high, school, recalling happy associations, forgetting the DPY, an ee mg all the time that nothing could be as good as those years that can be relived only in memories. Among those memories are many names, names of classmates who gained prominence in school, names of those who once Werejstransers but now are close and permanent friends-names which will remain forever at the front of our book of memories. It was in the freshman year, you'll remember, that our class elected Marilyn Cross president, with Ward Weldon. vice-president, and assigned to Jo Ann Elwell and Don Coleman the responsibilities as well the honor of secretary and treasurer. But perhaps just as important, or just as prominent in memories, was the election of Marilyn Cross and Kenneth Foster as King and Queen of the carnival. Betty Preuss and Jack Turner were elected King and Queen our sophomore year. 'And just as the names of those candidates were different, so were the names of the class officers. Jo Ann Elwell found herself conducting the class meetings as president, while Jim Rush, vice-president stood ready to take the duties should Jo Ann be unable to be present. Betty Preuss took Jo Ann's place as secretary and Norman Shreeves was elected the new treasurer. All four officers, in performing their duties, did their bit in welding the class together, helping to make it a coopera- tive, purposeful and outstanding class in College High School. It is with, just as much pleasure that we look back on our junior year and the names prominent in our me-mories. Don Coleman became president and Jack Turner stood by in case of emergencies as vice-president. As secretary Lavonne Wilcoxon kept the minutes along with her many other duties and Bob Baxter watched the treasury. For the carnival Mary Alice Eckhoff and Bob Baxter were elected to represent the class, while Betty Preuss and Jo Ann Elwell received the honor of competing for queen of the Rhetorette Ball. Jo Ann was elected queen from a group of eight candidates, It was however, in the last year, in the senior year, that the frequency of our names in responsible positions reflected the versatility and potentiality of our class. The list was long, and it is with just a little more nostalgia and pride that we recall the names of our classmates. It's because we realized that our time in CHS was numbered only by days instead of years and that soon we would drift apart and be known to each other not by a friendly Hi, there ! but by the memories that a once familiar name can bring back, Joyce Baldwin received the coveted crown at the Rhetorette Ball, while Shirley Huffman and Dale Carpenter were elected candidates for .King and Queen of the carnival, Our class officers were Bob Baxter as president, Jim Sproat as vice-president, Shirley Huffman as- secretary and Bill Smith as treasurer. Not only was Bob Baxter the president of the class but he also was elected president of the student council and editor of Colt Capers. Shirley Huffman as president lead the Leader's Club, Don .Coleman served as president of the Masque and Hams. Presidents of other organizations were Evelyn Hacker, Honor Society, Esther Ozias, Neat Beats, Jo Ann Elwell, F. I-l. A., Buddy Brown, F.F.A.g The honor continued as Jo Ann Elwell became vice-president of the Honor Society and Editor-in-Chief of the Rhetorette. Marilyn Cross -helped as associate editor of Colt Capers and the Rhetorette while' Will Rickman took the important duties of the treasurer of the student council, and LaVonne Wilcoxon as secretary. Senior representatives elected to the student council were Betty Preuss and Delbert Bodenhamer. Marilyn Brown and Marilyn Cross devoted much of their time to the Honor Society as secretary and treasurer. n As departing seniors, we must say that what was done, what goocl we brought to our school, was a result of all of our class working together. The names above represent those in whom we put our faith. Behind those names were many others working to make the class, and school better each year. If, as years go by, someone should 'ask us Whats in a name? we are now sure that in our memories of the senior class we can find the answer, Miss EDITH BRooKs, Sponsor c fi
