Ownbey and Lealon N. lones. Pow-Wow Popularity Contest lane Wampler, formerly of East Hiqh School, Columbus, Ohio, Was elected queen of the Pow-Wow by students of the senior department. Miss Wampler Won second place in the Ohio State Iunior Girls Tennis Championship in 1935. Elizabeth MacDonald, also a lunior, won third place in the contest. Luther Hahs, ot Friedheim, Mo., who graduates this year, and has attended College High School tour successive years, was voted the most popular boy. He has been elected class president each year, is a member ot the National Honor Society, President of the S. A. K, Club and a member ot the Dramat Club. ic Bill Parker, a Senior, was voted second most popular boy. Anson McKee, a Senior, Won third place in the popularity contest. Training School Graduates Are Lucky They don't have tar to go to college. The Summer School Opens May 31 The Fall Session opens September 7 ll. Looking Rack By Ruth Darnell Long, very long ago, certain people were advised not to look back. When one of them did so, dire was the result. But that was many years ago, and today, l, like one of them, find myself looking back. Looking back on perhaps the most sublime days of my school life. Although the effort does not change me into a pillar of salt, l pay the cost, a twinge of pain and regret. For l shall be leaving this. There will be much that l shall miss. After eliminating the more helpful elements, there will remain all the sundry little happenings to keep me remembering. For l shall remember, probably to the extent of becoming poetic. Now at a curve in the road, unable to see ahead, but with a backward view unobstructed, I realize more and more just what the short time here has meant to me. There are so many small uneventful things, strangely in- significant as they marched down through my days, but now - i just as strangely, somehow dear. l shall remember how the sun- l 7 7 light dappled the walk each morning as l crept to school with the tingle of the alarm clock still ringing in my ears, the way my knees wobbled when I lost my gym shoes before the basketball test, and a particular essay that l regarded in a touch-me-not fashion. Of course l had to shake off the laissez faire complex at the eleventh hour and hurriedly collect my more or less habit- ually scattered wits. It was not until I looked back and viewed the past with a candid and critical eye that I realized just what an enjoyable time I have had. People, as a rule, Chad you noticed?l are quite strange. We change our opinions again and again, sometimes almost unaware that we have done so, and usually without considering whether the object in question is worthy of the attention or not. And yet, it is very wise to rectify our mistakes, and more than convenient that we are pliable enough to suffer the change. Spe- scenery , and ot course, I admired the moonlight and the river . And then I did the inevitable, changed my opinion, a complete face about. I don't want to leave now. It is too ironic for comfort. I could repeat my former remarks with utter truth, and add ever so much to them. I couldnt possibly explain the intanaible something that I have tound so entrancinq about College High, or just what it has meant to me. It's the sort ot thinq that could easily be converted into a fairy story, tor Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Bears will be worn to a trazzle by then, or are they now? At any rate it's an idea.
