It began this morning with that harrowing flight from Los Angeles to New York in two and a half ho1u's on Hines Fine Lines, with Larry as pilot of course. Just as we left Glicago we discovered one motor xrdssingg apparently Don Jonas' latest invention is not as foolproof as he predicted. Stewardess Thama Stevens worked frantically calming everyone until finally two of the passengers, Dr. Lois Dillon and her assistant Carol Lyden, offered their services. As if I hadn't had enough excitement, the mad dash from the airport to the hotel, with Gqlo Lucas as cab driver, was enough to turn my hair white. a I had reservations with the Aldwarf Hotel, now owned and operated by the - ,. Oobbsg you remember Ellen Craft. Just as I walked through the revolving doors, my old friend, 'Dom Chaney, asked for a quarter for a cup of coffee. He really I was blinded by the billing for Gerald Park, who is crooning nightly in the C EQ? Dark Room. H18 chief competition comes from Virginia Anderson who is playing L, the piano in the Light Room, I registered at the desk and took the elevator to the thirteenth floor. There, waiting to get on, was Emmaline Rodich, who is here for the National Secretaries Convention. She informed me that Connie Williams has been elected president of the organization for the ninth consec- utive time. av gets around, the last time I saw him was in Arkansas. Upon entering the lobby, H Y Y. while resting in my room, I decided to send for the Daily News and read the reviews of my latest campaign speech. The service door opened and there was Vergil Phillips handing me ny paper. I could just imagine those headlines , t 'Harry Robinson Cinches Senatorial Race, but to my surprise they were Jerry . Bitner Sells Horse, Nashua, to Danry Hudson for 153 million. I decided to recover from my disappointment by getting a bite to eat and then attending a plqr or show, - f X 'Ihe Jungle Room looked like the place for me, and as I entered, the if orchestra, conducted by Jivmrqr Black, with Diantha Tedlock as violinist, was plwing. Although they were crowded, Janis Kennett, the hostess, found nv , old friend, Roger Schnackenberg, and arranged for me to share his table. He ...ft is still the playboy of Broadway and eats here frequently. He suggested I K might enjoy a steak dinner, a specialty of the chef, Ronald Brauner. After dinner I pezsuaded Roger to attend the latest Broadway production of deep 3. drama entitled, The well' by Carolyn Landon. 'Ihe setting has been designed by Janet Messenger, and the play stars George Bradley and Sharon Wilson McDowell. It wasn't until now as I sat reviewing my day's activities that I realized Y I had encountered most of my former classmates of 1956. with so many here in New York, I wonder if they have considered a reunion. Well, maybe after election I could work on it. Qin 'i . s 1, ,X 4 '4 N XA Q Y -J . 4 .ax V E nf -! o ' 'Q Sponsored by A. J. CRIPE BAKERY 'g I Xe ,Sl , N., s Class Officers Betsy McGlothlin, pres.
