Prophecy Having lived as a rich, lonely, old maid for the past twenty-five years, I decided to leave my home in Sun Valley, Idaho--my destination being my alma mater, College High School in Pittsburg, Kansas. I had a little time before leaving so I dropped in at the local Sun Valley theater which is owned by Sondra Martin and whose ticket girl is Joan Hichardson. Donald George and Bill Alderman were coastarring in a new musical picture, Donald having replaced Gorden McCrae and Bill having become a second Gene Nelson. The band in the picture belonged to Jim Smith with the drunner none other than Maurice Phillips--I always knew Jim would own a band sane day. After the show I went to the depot, found the train in, and boarded it. In a short time we pulled out and were rounding a curve when along came the conductor. Frantically searching for my ticket, I was surprised to have the conductor, Jim Higby, offer his services. He said he was in a hurry but would come back later for a chat. It seemed he was having trouble with two hobos--you guessed it-- Fraucis Mason and George Hopkins, world-known tramps. Hy this time I was hungry, so I looked for the diner. There sat Alma Forbes and Bob Chubb, who were on a second honeymoon to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary, Upon receiving my food, I learned that the meat had cone from Dale Wisdom's ranch and that his chief cowhand is James Grotheer. he stopped for a minute and Polly lenne got on the train. She came over to sit with me and said she was going to Pittsburg too. As we left Steamboat Springs, we noticed a sign reading: Let Carson do it and it will be built right. It seems that Bill is one of the greatest bricklayers in the United States. Heaching our destination, Polly and I took our bags to a new hotel in town owned hy Norman Passmore. He informed us that Ebb Allegrucci is in Washington as senator from Kansas and that Ola Lee Wilson and Arvilla Fliginger are representatives. In the lobby was a poster advertising 'daredevil' races to be held at the local rodeo, Jim Lance has become a millionaire from his winnings. We decided the first place we wanted to visit was good old C. H. S. My, how the faculty have changed! In the gym we found Wayne Simpson as physical education teacher for the boys while Shirley Perry is in charge of the girls' classes. Next we visited the cnmnerce department of which Jean Mccolley is head. John Horton reigns in the social science department. We had felt those four would some day be teachers in their fields as they were always good students. After visiting sone of the other classrooms, we went to the principal's office and there was Hex Matzenbacher's name on the door. It seems he couldn't stay away. Polly and I visited several places before returning to the train. We were worn out from our experiences, but I must say it was worth the effort to see our old classmates again.
