For the last time the seniors of '66 participated Col-Hi Day events. They presented the Homecomi Assembly and built their triumphant Buffalo for parade. Queen Kathryn Pritchard was elected from tli number and was attended by seniors, Judith Mobc and Leslie Poe. The seniors also attended their last pr Q H it and began making post-graduation plans. All too quickly the Class of 1966 donned their c and gowns and received their diplomas. Although gr T V - T . . . . jt 4,F11 uation marked the end of a golden age in their ln lm' the seniors had much to show for their years at Colli High. They had gained a sense of responsibilityg greater appreciation of the qualities of leadership, scl' arship, and sportsmanshipg a better understanding themselves, their country, and their worldg and the bz foundations of their plans for the future. 20 NETT, ILO UTUNOF F , l'I NA HE, MIKE QSOM, RALPH RES, TOM ED ILEY, BARBARA NES, BOBBY LDXWIN, LDWIN, LOBERT LLARD, IRENDA PAT School Through Its Golden Age . . . Group Promotes Good Sportsmanship College High's Peppers, Cheerleaders, and Sportsmanship Committee devoted this school year to cheering the Wildcat teams to victory, promot- ing school spirit and directing good sportsman- ship at games. Peppers, headed by president Pat Helmets, initiated many new projects such as selling booster buttons and satin booster ribbons and fully supporting a greater number of winter sports. Head Cheerleader Susie Fox led the other cheerleaders in the victory yells and chants. Win- ners of five firsts in state competition, Col Hi's cheerleaders encouraged both team and spectators with their well-organized and loyal cheers. The Sportsmanship Committee worked hard to settle any problems that arose concerning sportsmanship at both out-of-town and home games. The com- mittee made suggestions about how to foster school spirit. It is no wonder that the Wildcat teams battled their way to numerous victories this year with the backing and enthusiasm of these three active organizations. Our faculty shows good sportsmanship in KELI Blunder Basketball The Bartlesville Youth Traffic Court continued serving the youth of the community by trying cases of juvenile traffic violators. College High students served as officials of the court and gained experience in judicial procedures. During their junior year of high school, stu- dents are given the Merit Scholarship Test. Those who become semi-finalists in this test are eligible for a considerable scholarship to the college of their choice. Students receiving honor- able commendation did not qualify as semi-final- ists but scored only slightly lower. Either honor is evidence of high academic achievement, and College High is proud to acknowledge a number of recipients. The office staff, consisting of students who volunteered their service in the administrative W quarters of the school, contributed invaluable time.and efforts by running the office switch- board, delivering messages, and doing countless small, but necessary, tasks. STILLWATER 20 BARTLESVILLE 0 The Wildcats found the going a little rough against Still- water as the highly-rated Pioneers downed our Cats, 20-0. Stillwater fullback Kent Grant was a one-man wrecking crew, as he scored twice and was the game's leading ball- carrier. The Wildcats gave their fans a spark of hope late in the second quarter when quarterback Jim Ettinger hit halfback Rick Hopper with a 44-yard pass play which put the ball on the Pioneer nine, but time ran out in the half before the Cats could score. fl TOMMY MORELAND DAVID PATTERSON, Junior Guard SCOTT MARTIN Senior Halfback DAN PATTERSON, Sophomore Halfbaqk Sophomore Quarterback Scott Martin 1141 and Steve McFarlane 1231 break up a Central pass. Both of those scores were made by halfbadc Robert jones, one a 55-yard punt return, the other a 36-yard run. The big gun for Bartlesville was fullback Spencer Kissell, who gained 175 yards and scored one touchdown. Twice the solid Cat defense stopped the Braves inside the one-yard line, once at the end of the first half and once with only 24 seconds left in the game. The big fullback accounted for 226 of Bartlesville's 265 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns, one from 31 yards out. The Cat defensive line again showed its effectiveness by holding the Eagles to a mere 86 yards rushing. The Cat pass defense was likewise quite effective, as Wildcat defenders intercepted four Eagle passes, one of which, stolen by Don King, stopped an important Eagle drive late in the fourth quarter. BARTLESVILLE 23 SPRINGFIELD 7 The Wildcats pulled off a big upset by knocking off tough, previously-unbeaten Springfield Parkview. Spencer Kissell led the Wildcat attack with 203 yards and two touchdowns on long runs of 37 and 53 yards. Both of Kissell's touchdowns were on short plunges, the first having been set up by a 31-yard pass play from jim Ettinger to Bob Larson, the second by Kissell's own catch of an Ettinger pass for a 40-yard pass-run play. Camelot Is Theme of Prom We 9-C At nine o'clock on the evening of April 29 the juniors and seniors of College High saw the school gymnasium transformed into the fascination and splendor of King Arthur's Camelot. Due to many hours of labor by members of the Junior Class under the direction of class president Doug Current and sponsor Mrs. Virginia jackson, those who.attended the Prom danced amid the courtly ladies, chivalrous knights and fiery dragons of medieval England. Throughout the evening couples took part in the Grand March, were served refreshments by the faculty and danced to the music of The Sounds Unlimited. This enchanting evening of the Junior-Senior Prom was a highlight of the golden year of 1966.
