Prarrle ehooner from all the grade schools got together and formed a wagon tram for the long rournev ahead Our trm through the pralrles of Central Hugh began mth the sev enth grade when we chose to lead us through thls flrst great vear Barbara Ylcfullough presldent Frank Wlartmez vlce nresrdent and John Darnold secretary Oh pamc' Louxe dxdnt hold an offlce this year Since we had no recess to burn up energv we substituted nolsv classrooms spxlled lnk bottle paper wad wars and bales of grey halr for the teachers That year Barbara Tooke carrled off the honors rn the spelling bee and represented Bartlesvllle ln the Tul a Contest Don Smlth fmlshed a close second Our second year at Central we felt more at home even though the Journey was becoming more dlfflcult Agam we chose leaders John Darnold became president with David Baker as veep and Anne Hesse as secretary Louls Whltehalr was vlce presldent of the student councll and Bllly Johnston won the Volce of Democracy contest Lynn Overlees was vtce pre tdent of the Pep Cats and Anne Hesse and Sally Maylen were our exghth grade cheerleaders for the Cubs We pause here to glve flfteen rahs for our vlctorxous Cubs Remember the many trlps to Ferndell m the ram snow and sleet to eat meat loaf and chlle and then runnmg back to school to see the noon movies whlch were a must to most of us We were travelmg along smoothly untll we hxt that rut known as the freshman year Frank Martmez was elected presxdent Davnd Baker vrce president and Sue Bxllbe sec retary Our whlp crackmg president of the student body was Lours Whrtehalr who kept good control over our twenty mule team To enlrghten our Journey some of the more talented ones presented Nfeet Colllss Archer Takmg the leads were Sally Maylen and Bobby Qumtana as Corllss and Dexter A few others who took part ln thls play were Joanna Lelsure Sandra Van Zant Sharon Mason and Sara Stralght Shall we ever forget Mlss Spencers patrlotlc marchmg group and that hauntmg refra1n'7 What rhythm' Thls was the second year for Martha Peters as presldent of the Y Teens a posmon m whlch she served very well That year we rolled out the welcome mat to Bonme Hler Jarrell Jennings and Jlm and Chuck Cossey To lead the Cubs on to vlctory Barbara McCullough Chary lene Morgan Sally Maylen and Anne Hesse were elected cheerleaders Then there was that llttle man who became dl gusted wlth hrs teacher and used the classroom wmdow for escape ll believe hrs mmals were Louls Whrtehalrl We will always be thankful that ll was on the fur t floor Our Journey next took u to the foothills called College Hlgh where we were lmmedlately surrounded by Apaches Commanches and a sorted teachers After that we were Joined by some newcomers to our wagon tram Among these were Rlta Simmons Roger Hebard Genevieve Shaw George Hlnkle and Ann Roberts The big wheels of our wagon tram for thls part of the Journey were Louls Whttehalr presldent and Frand Martinez veep To volce our oplnxon m school affalrs we elected Anne Hesse and Sally 'lfaylen to the Delrberatxve Com mlttee Anne also was sophomore cheerleader and Bonme Herr escorted by Larry Mmden was our attendant to the Football Queen Let us not forget our beautemos float that won top honors m the Homecoming Parade Another sophomore pro neer who dlstmgulshed hlmself was Bobby Green who began his sensational career as a star athlete at College Hlgh Our Jumor year began wtth a blg splash' We swam to Dewey where the Wrldcats floated to vrctory over the Bulldoggers cheered on by the mud daubed cheerleaders and strmgy hatred pectators We added another VOICE to the cheerleaders m the person of 'Nancy Parker who harmomously blended her talents wrth those of Anne Barbara Kolb escorted by Davld McGuire served most charmmgly as our attendant to the Football Queen thls vear As Jumors vse welcomed Jlm Bradshaw Don Glb son James Gxbson Bob Forrest B111 Forest and Gallya Ben net to the class Old Falthful Whltehalr contlnued as presl dent and new flash to the football games wxth thelr colorful half time shows as Drum MaJors of the College Hrgh Band Bob Houston from our own Latm Club Chapter was elected presrdent of the state J umor Cl8SS1Cal League From among the thoughts of gllttered stars and flowers pmk trees and pamt staxned blue Jeans comes the memory of our flrst Prom and all those headaches ll guess 1t was Just the rmpact of the Proml At last we reached the fmal year of our Journey We pre pared to make our last stand stlll flghtmg off the savage on the assorted teachers We chose to lead our Flghtmg Semor Battahon Louis Whxtehalr top sergeant and David Baker fxrst asslstant There never was a class any prouder than we were of our Wlldcats who were the flrst team to play on Custer Fleld And always there cheermg them on were the many fans led by the cheerleaders The semor cheerleaders, vuth thelr monster black and gold pom poms were Anna .lo Stephenson Joan Couch and Barbara Kolb Ruta Simmons 1954 55 Football Queen was crowned by co captams Kenneth Fxtch and Davnd Baker Rrchard Ivan Roberts escorted Queen Ruta and Anna Jo Stephenson senxor attendant was escorted by Frank Martmez Agam we the mad float bullders earned off flrst place honors with the pmk and blue We re Expectm lvrctoryl float Vnfgrl Sandford headed our Nautilus as Edltor ln Chlef assisted by Sharon Mason asslstant editor, Jarrell Jenmngs sports edltor and Lynn Overlees whose Platter Chatter column made qulte a hlt wrth the bop crazy students of College Hugh The Col H1 whlch was named our sophomore year by Susan Hudson had Nancy Parker as its edrtor and Carol Ryan as copy edrtor Barbara McCullough and David Baker were named Yearbook Queen and King Dan Line han won the local TU Gomg to College Qurz from a fleld of mneteen Before concludmg thls history we must remember the cafetena which so faxthfully fed us durmg our hugh school years and our famous tnps past the wmdow where we were so honorably decorated wrth mashed potatoes and garbage water We had Just passed the food splusher' The rest of our senlor year went by so very fast the semor class play Sadle Hawkrns Day the Jumor Semor Prom and our very last week at College Hlgh Then came Semor Day with the farewell assembly Baccalaureate and commencement land the tear stalned cheeks as we sang Hall to Dear College Hlgh for the last trmel And smgmg farewell to the Jumors
