And so it all beganl Our first taste of high school at Central. To help us through the struggles of the seventh grade we elected as class officers Darrell Douglas, president, Benny Johnson, vice-president, and Lloyd Sanders, secretary. That year Ted Neptune flashed his acting ability by starring in an assembly program. Remember Wildcat Willie? Mar- Jrie Phillips was elected attendant to the last of the Cub Basketball queens . . . she picked as her escort that handsome and dashing young man . . . Tommy Petersll The womenless men of the year were: Mike May, John Kane, and Benny Johnson. They were three of the members of the Women Haters Club. We cautiously entered the eighth grade to find ourselves in Miss Jackson's English Class marchin'g over Africa, Boots , you know and Snow Bound. Bobby Ann Malone gallantly led his basketball team to a tie in the intramural games while Joseph Claud Pittman sang love songs tb the girls. Gary Colbaugh, president, and George Galanis, vice-presi- dent were the officers for the year. Gary led the Freshman class as president, ably assisted by Bob Clair Hathaway, vice-president. During this eventful year Jim Caruso Tate took time from his singing career to go on a five day trip to Kansas City to the Royal Stock Show. This year was brought to a close with Juanita Covington and Joe Blade being elected co-editors of the Gusher. Suzanne Rewerts started the Sophomore year with a bang by taking the lead in the Sophomore Class play We Shook the Family Tree . . . The old politician Gary Colbaugh came up a step and became president of the student body. Dallas Dobbs led the Wildcat Basketball team with 212 points in 21 games. lOnIy a Sophomore at that.l We had another athlete, .lack Siedle, who was high point man on the swimming team. Dee Anne Frisinger was basket- ball queen attendant, with Tommy Peters again doing the honors as escort. Wanda Grandone and Teddy Cobb won the American Legion Citizenship Award. The following year we went South to College High and saving our Confederate money we entered there as Juniors. Against our better iudgment the Sophomores came with us. Because we are such good kids , we let them stay. Suzanne Phillips made a pretty Junior Class football queen attendant escorted by Benny Johnson. ln our Junior play, The Eyes of Tlaloc, Henry Hudson fright- ened everyone as the Indian Nawa. Harley Hume was a prosperous rancher, while Phyllis Johnson thrilled everybody with her Spanish accent. Then came the main event-our Junior-Senior Prom. The Country Club was decorated with cut flowers, and trellises. Music was supplied by Tiny Small and his orchestra. Oh, will the decorating committee ever forget those tubs and tubs of flowers, some of which leaked? The evening began with cake parties and open houses and ended with breakfasts and slumber parties. One of our class's contributions to the All School Play, Meet Me in St. Louis , was Gary Hughes. Shirley Williams' education was certainly enriched when she was moved into an all boy physics class. Joining our Senior Class were Pat Albert, Barbara Williams, Mary Helen Henton, Anne Watkins, and Jean Parry, they were so anxious to leave school that they graduated in three years. Football co-captains were Benny Johnson and John Nett who did the honors in the crowning of Football Queen Marilyn Le Fevre. Marilyn's escort was John Kane and the senior attendant was Shirley Stidham, escorted by Mike May. Some of our burly football players were Nick Rogers, Gaines Chesnut, and Tommy Ross. Yearbook queen was Barbara Benz and Pat Gallery was band queen.'President of the F. H. A. was Neola McGuire. Phillips, Texas's loss was Bartlesville's gain when Sheila Patrick moved to town. But the big surprise of the year was Earlene Fears' and Tom Dow's secret marriagel It seemed to be catching for Margie McKee, Margie Phillips, Barnez Underhill, and Shirley Feltner all followed them down the aisle. Seen around school was George Ramsey's The South Shall Rise Again heap-pardon us, car. David Shelden, Le Roy Saddoris and Buddy Wiley were three of the sure shots decked out in the new basketball warm ups. Yum, Yum. Forever eating Fritos were Guy Messersmith and Leon Robinson. ls that all you did, Kiddies? We couldn't have done without Don Watsonfs wonderful limeades at the village. Elaine Kaveler helped as we sang our Alma Mater by playing the organ. Oh well, Elaine, you tried to keep us in tune. Cecille Phillips and Suzie Miller were chosen cheerleaders for the second straight year. We were happy to have Lucy McKeithan back with us after staying a year in the hospital with polio. Decorating the halls were Joyce Mayfield 'and LeRoy Saddoris in their new steady sweaters. Missed by many people would have been Wayne Maple's taxi service had his faithful car broken down. Then came Senior week with Baccalaureate, Commencement, and Farewell Assembly. And when we received our long awaited diplomas we realized that the most treasured years of our lives had come to a close. THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF THE CLASS OF I952 We, the Senior Class of One Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty Two, the most quiet, calm, and refined class that ever passed through the halls of College High, who have never been known to lose our heads while under the alfluence of inkahol, do hereby bequeath our high ideals and most prized possessions to the remaining victims of College High. Therefore, in these last trying days, we find it necessary to discard these no longer usable treasures i???l To the Junior victims we leave our never dying love for our unused books. And to the future drivers we leave the smooth hot-rod road behind College High with the hope that it will be repaired before someone gets lost in one of the holes. We would at this time like to express our gratitude to the Kefauver Committee for allowing us to print and present this cherished document. -We hereunto set our seal and sign our name on this twentieth day of May, nineteen hundred and fifty-two. Signed: CLASS OF '52 CLASS PROPI-IECY On a recent world tour, lecturing for the fraternity of Gamma Delta Tau Rho Omega Chi Pi Zeta, I ran into many of the students from the College-High class of '52, accepted by every- one in these days to be the best consarned class ever to graduate. I left Bartlesville and headed for N. Y. City, arriving there on an airliner hainraisingly piloted by Kenneth Tate. Visibly shaken, I staggered into a ioint of a questionable repu- tation named Al's Saloon. I entered in the midst of c. brawl between two N. Y. toughs, Wiley Shelton and Tommy Reece, iust in time to hear the bartender shout, Get Al, she's in backI Puzzling over the question of a shemale named Al, I was nearly floored when the boss pushed her way through the swinging doors. It was Alice Catherine Minden, with a .45 in each hand. After this I left, heading toward the mayor's residence. Later, I was saddened to learn that the saloon had been utterly de- molished by the famous reformer, Pious John Brouse. I was greeted upon my arrival at the mayor's mansion by the mayor himself, Howard Miller. He was rather sad, however, and informed me that his wife, the former Marian Riggs of Bartlesville, had left him, because of his affair with showgirl Claudine Coombs. He promised me a tour of the city with police chief Ralph Richter. One of the highlights of the trip was a tour through the morgue, where I met the genial head keeper, Richard Schleicher, who informed me that he rather enioyed his work. From New York Harbor I took the liner Queen Elizabeth to England. The captain, Bill Tanner told me he had been dis- charged from the navy due to his marvelous facility for running into icebergs around the Philippines. After touring London, during which I met the Limehouse slum crime king, Carl Davis, busily beating up a little old lady, I met Hugh Walls, in common pleas court getting his seventeenth divorce. From London on to Paris, where who should I meet but Bob Armstrong, noted natural fertilizer magnate, taking his world tour by banana boat. Along the road we passed a road gang, one of the members I recognized as being Vern Cun- ningham, arrested for stealing martinis from sidewalk cafes along the Place de la Concords. One facet of night life was Bobs Bilbe, famous comedienne. Her m. c. was the world fam- ous Robert Basler, the only person in Europe who could drink five Moscow Mules in quick succession. I flew on to Germany, where I found Martha Burns wheeling a pushcart selling apples stuffed with cyanide to pedestrians along the Unter den Linden. I also noticed an organ-grinder with what appeared to be a monkey. Upon drawing nearer I discovered it to be Robert Baldwin turning the crank, while Joe Sigler iumped up and down with a little tin cup and scratched fleas. Just over from Egypt were Joe Morrow and Mary Bess Morley doing their hit dance number, Under a Maltese Tombstone. The next day I flew to Karachi, India, where I discovered Hillard Moore, J. Norice Lucas, and Cliff Schafer, bathing in the Ganges River and muttering God save the Confederacyl Then back to Paris I went where I took in the Folies Bergere, where I had a chance to observe the famous can-can line, among whom I noticed Tamara Balenko, Barbara Smith, Estalee Brantley, Kathleen O'Meara, and Rosetta Buford. Then I went to the grisly Grand Guignol, the famous cafe where the most gruesome plays in the world are presented. Among the outstanding scenes is when Martin Bingham pulls Imogene Detter's tongue out with a pair of pliers. The star, Pauline Moore, had her throat cut so realistically that she bled on several spectators. Then I flew to Africa and in the Ubangi territory encquntered a safari consisting of Stanley Dodd,'John Gelwick, and James Carman. James had adopted the custom of inserting plates in his lips and confidentially clacked that he would return to the U. S. to make a live movie biography of Donald Duck While here I learned that in Tibet Jack Wright and Ben Lock man were high priest and Leon Capps a Dalai Lama. I crossed the Arabian Sea by means of a rowboat and ar- rived in India. Walking along the Ganges River I thought I saw somebody doing their wash. lt turned out to be Jean Griffin, Pat Bowman, Shirley Charter, and Delores Nichols, however. I skipped due north and in a short while arrived tn Moscow. There I was introduced to Morgan Douglass, who had abolish- ed the Communistic system and appointed himself Czar. I skipped Siberia, as I had heard that the famous badman, John Hutchinson, had escaped aided by Jack Forest, and was currently terrorizing the nearby inhabitants. I made it to Japan on three ounces of regular gasoline, using a new type of rollerskates invented by Conrad Brown. There I met a troupe of Bartlesville girls touring the world with Barnum and Bailey's Circus. This group consisted of Naomi Pasley, Colleen Mabry, Ellen Hodges, and Mariorie Anderson. knother feature of the circus was Lefty Bill Waller, whc stuck his right hand in a lion's mouth. Their star attraction, Barbara Clark, wowed the crowds in her off-the-shoulder backless, sideless, frontless, evening gown. On the trip home I stopped off at Hawaii and met hula dancers Delores Cardenas, Mable Harley, Wanda Thompson, and Pat Moore. They were accompanied on a guitar by Bob Cronoble. As I sat on the sand of Waikiki l could see Alvin Feigel and Don Elliott beachcombing in the distance. A new note was added to the famous Hawaiian Hotel by Jimmy Morris and his all-drum orchestra. It was original, to say the least. At last I saw the Golden Gate Bridge and Hamel As I watched a tiny figure toppled off the bridge and plunged into the water below. I learned later from the paper that it was Dean Radefield diving for pennies, a iob made easier by the streamlined point which had developed on top of his head. En route to Bartlesville, a terrible triple-calamity befell us in the nightl Bill Waller, Thoral Walden, and Roy Lynn had fallen overboard, victims of a suicide pact. The conductor said that we had circled for hours but had not been able to lower a boat because we had no boat. Finally I arrived in Bartlesville and decided to take a trip 25 miles across town to good old College High, if it was stil standing. It was, and now the warden was Wayne Zachary Two of the math teachers were Mary Winther and Alma Van Blaricom, who were both busy following Miss Fender's old established rule of engraving trigonometric functions on the students' heads with a hat poker. I shuddered at these de- lightful reminiscences, and clawed my way into the open air, happy to be free forever. if .. xx? .A Tumbling Ad-Waile, Alexander, Greene. and Lewis ll's John Nell smoking a cigar .Ah, lhe carefree momenfs of youlh and Bobby Malone Daralene and Loren in lhose rnolorbilce days Long lime sweelhearls-Sharon Smylhe and Lew Ambler Halhaway wiih his moulh open as usual Taclny Day porfrail of Dolores Padgell Teachers Cafch lhe Sadie Hawkins Day lever Now don'l be bashlul Jon Guyene and Phyllis go boaling Taclcy Day memories-Margie.
