1.- ' We w1ll pass over our very grrm seventh and etghth grade years at Central and we arrrve September 1947 as proud, haughty and ver own up Freshmen We were led by Don Creel as Presr dent and slat Crowder as Vrce Prestdent Aprrl Showers was the theme of our class assembly g1ven on Apr11 15 A hrghlrght was Rxchard Strrmple s rmpersonatron of A1 Jolson srngrng Mammre And so the eventful year passed We wondered how we could ever forget our Algebra and Latrn struggles and Don Lehman s x-N darnty httle hats t Sophomores at Central Yes weren t we brg shots and we were 15 ably headed by Emery Coll Thomas Nrcolas Beechwood wrth hrs -'N rlghthand man Don Cyclone the Boy Bandrt Creel as our Stu dent Body Presrdent and Barbara Johnson as Secretary John Hughes was elected to the offtce of Prestdent of the Student Councrl and W1n1fred Srmktns was Secretary Audrey Jacobson was chosen Sophomore attendant to the Foot ball Queen Her blushrng escort was DeWayne Suggs The leadlng roles rn the Sophomore Class Play Our Hearts Were Young and Gay were played by Pat McDonald and Jeanne Duncan It was agreed that rt was the best Sophomore play ever g1ven Jeanne Duncan was chosen Sophomore attendant to the Basketball Queen Due to the fact that our audrtorrum was destroyed by a frre tn January we were unable to have any assembhes rncludrng the an nual Sophomore Farewell Assembly and the Tacky Day program We had our Sophomore party on the nrght of May 19th at the Y Hut The last major event of the year was the heated electron of offrcers for our Junror year Remember these ortggrnal posters Smrle wrth Smrley Wm wrth Wrnr and Don t Be a Heel Vote for Creel In the end Sonya Smrley was elected Presrdent and Don Endacott Don lehman and Harry Sauer was elected members of the Dehberauve Commrttee Although we looked forward to gomg out to College Hrgh we always cherrshed the memorres of Central Hrgh w1th M1ssDav1s and her htstory MISS Jackson and hterary notebooks Mrss Ferguson and Ivanhoe and last but not least Mrss Spencer and Geometry At College Hrgh we met that well known mstrtutron Honest John We really showed up the Senrors by takmg three offrces rn the De11berat1veComm1ttee Don Endacott was elected Vrce Presrdent Jeanne Duncan Secretary and Sonya Smrley Sergeant at Arms Vrrgrnra Dawson was chosen Junror attendant to the Football Queen and had as her escort Don Anderson That was a busy year for Barbara Hall who was Vrce Prestdent of the Pep Cats and the attendant to the Band Queen Of course thrs honor was taken by Norma Young Junror cheerleaders for the year were Pat Crowder Elma Mlller Harry Sauer and Buddy Weadock Then there was the Juruor Class Play At least the cast t.hou t tt was good Those rn the cast were Betty Perkms Tom Peterson Ehse Hodges Sonya Smrley Rrchard Gray Bunner Mrller Glenn Palmer Mary Lou Kueck and Don Barrett Basketball Queen attendant was Jane Langwtll who chose Fred Chadsey as her escort The Pep Cats were kept busy soddmg football frelds and shovrng buses out of the mud And Sadre Hawkms Day Who can forget? Remember all the dyed hart? And the Put somethrng rn the pot Boy assembly The spotltght now falls on the Jumor Semor Prom Remember decoratmg the Country Club wrth fallrng lattrces and wadmg rn tubs of fresh flowers? And then the Magrc Hour Dancmg to VanZant s orchestra and then the show at the M111 afterwards Of course we all went home early early rn the mornrng Frnally th year drew to an end wrth graduatron and the loss of many dear frrends One bemg our own Carolyn Althouse who used her head and graduated tn three years She won the AAUW Scholarshlp and graduated frrst scholastrcally tn the Senror Class of 1950 Ah our Senror year at last and agarnst our better Judgment we tnherrted the dear Sophomores After watchmg the pracuces of our pll'1I srzed football team we unknowmgly were seerng the team that was to wm second place rn the 6A Conference We were very proud that we beat all three Tulsa teams and we gloated over the fact that etght of our boys made All Conference They were Larry Hunt Don Endacott B111 VanMeter B111 Quintana Ken McCullough Gerold Swope Watte Bell and Gene Sroufe And on top of that our own Ken McCullough made the All Stare team We had an attracnve Football Queen thrs year Barbara Johnson wrth her escort Buddy Weadock Eugerua Munson was her at rendant accompanred by Merle Sroufe Presrdent thrs year was B111 VanMeter and Jane langwrll was Vrce Presrdent The Delrberauve Commrttee members were Sonya Smrley Barbara Hall John Hughes Betty Perkrns and Don Endacott We had an able edrtor of the Nautrlus Betty Perkrns Carol Carman was the Yearbook Edrtor The lead of the All School Play was taken by Melba Hlggmbotham The cast rncluded Jane Langwrll Pat Meade Jarue Grven and Roger Shank Our Pep Cats were under control of Barbara Hall whrle the Cheerleaders were Bunner M11ler Elrse Hodges Pat Crowder and later Carol Carman Home Comrngwas a lot of work The parade was really nrce and there were many floats Everyone trred to fast talk Honest John Fmally the brg week rn all our lrves Commencement Week no school no frnal exams And before we knew rt the Prom Bac calaureate the Farewell Assembly and Commencement nrght How the tears d1d flow on those occaslonsl We wtll always remember our Senror Year no matter how far we may go And all the wonderful frrencs we had made and had learned to love Farewell, dear College Hrghl Srgned, THE CLASS or 1951 Z4 1 ., 1 4' ' .3 ri 1.-,.
