E Speegle, and Jim Plunkett represented us on the Wrldcat basketball team Football honorsthat year went to Jack Fowler Bob Thlelen, and L. E Speegle who made the Wrldcat squad Hrghlrghts of the year were the many assemblres, the wrnnrng of All Amerroan by the Gusher staff land the Gusher money makrng camparqnsl Tacky Day wrth Jack Fowler and Patsy Maylen relgnrng as krng and queen The sophomore play, Srxteen rn August featured the capers of Gusty, Jane Alexander and a memorable dramatrc scene by Pat Turk Wrth the sophomore farewell assembly we brd adreu to Central and turn to face lrfe at College-Hrgn We ll never forget our days at Central especrally the gay gang who were SO proud to be sophomores that they wrote SOPHOMOBES 1948 OH the school wall and spent the next few nrghts removrng rt wrth lye Q -nf At College High at last' And Mr Haley And very QFOWH up iunrors we were, too We started off right wrth Tom Fowler at our head assrsted by veep Ann Gullrkson and Dellberatlve Commrttee representatives Nancy Hanklns, Charles Goodhue, and Jerry Glahn We soon showed the lofty senrors who was boss by copprng the lead parts ln the All School play Nancy Hankrns as Anna belle Fuller, Susan Kldd as Madge, and Jack Guardrola as a vlsltrnq actor Our iunror year marked the begrnnrng of the plaster cast procession down ye olde halls Frrst that year was Pat Garrl son followed by Bob Thielen, Don Lehman, Fred Chadsey, L. E Speegle, Francrs Govett, Brll Van Meter in our senror ear Y The Junror class play, Dear Ruth presented Jane Van Dall Helarne Wrrght Pete Nicola Kathleen Scanlan, Jrm Boss, Jack Forsbach, Davrd Maxwell and Janet Koopman in an excellent presentation of thrs delrghtful comedy I-Irghllght of the year for us was the annual Junior Senror Prom Can we ever forget decorating the Country Club for the brg event the thoms on the roses the tubs of fresh flowers and frnally, Prom mght itself with the curfew ln the wee small And then graduation, and the loss of many wonderful frrends rncludrnq Gretchen Wlenecke who reigned as a very gracious basketball queen having decided to graduate ln three years Then we were at last SENIOBS' ' Q i Our senior year was marked by a successful football season, hrghllghted by the series of fractures already men troned Now at last, real grown up electives' The vocatronal home economics taught by Miss Sue Cladwell was qulte popular among the grrls who wrll never forget Janet Cordry s struggle to flnlsh her skin the ink spot on her second garment, and her look of reslgnatron when asked about the third? Martha Neal proved herself a very busy senior, as she drvrded her trme between rergnlng as 1950 football queen and actrng as charrman of the Delrberatlve Committee JGCk Guardrola, Nancy Hankins and Janet Koopman kept things up on the lournalrstrc front the yearbook and the Nautilus Susan Kidd presided over the Pep Cats Bob Thlelen was president of the ' B Club and Gene Kelly reigned as presr dent of the Senior class The All School Play, 'Seven Keys to Baldpate vtas domrnated by an almost entrre senror cast and band activities were rergned over by Melinda Cooper The orchestra made an important trip to Dallas which was partly frnanced by a soc dance hald followrng the coronatlon of Barbara Gibbs as the basketball queen Spring activities rncluded successful track and baseball seasons and an hllarrous Sadie Hawkins' Day fCan we ever forget Koopman ln the barrel our iunror year?l And finally here we are Commemcement, 1950 and 1t's all come so swrftly our Senror Prom, Baccalaureate, the Farewell Assembly and we know we can never forget our high school career nor the friends we've 'node and the teachers we've come to knowl Signed, The Class of 1950 . . . -V . - , . -T I - I , l 1 . .
