The student body of College High school was asleed to nominate a girl who had the qual tfleations of scholarship service person allty character and leadership I-our girls were nominated. They were then intro- duced on an assembly program after which an announcement was made that one of the four girls would go to California to christen the ship which was to be named for our city. This was the first the students knew as to why they had nominated the four girls. Bety lou I-indley was elected by over two- thirds of the class. Bety is I7 years old and has attended Bar- tlesville schools. She was basketball queen in her sophomore year at Central. She has been on the Student Council for three years and is a member of this year's Deliberative Committee. She was a cheerleader for two years. This year she has been secretary to Miss Cleo Waterman, instructor of the wom- en's department at the Y.M.C.A.
