Enough if something from our hands have power To live, and act, and serve the future hour Wordsworth 1820 Columbia University in the City of New York j New York, N.Y. 10032 SCHOOL OF DENTAL AND ORAL SURGERY 630 West 168th Street Office of the Dean February 20, 1981 Dear Class of 1981: Graduation from dental school is a time for celebration. Successful completion of the long, arduous process of preprofessional-prof essional education requires dedication, hard work and a high degree of motivation. You ' ve sacrificed much to reach your goal of becoming a Doctor of Dental Surgery and now is the time to stop, reflect on your success, and accept the congratulations of your family and friends. You deserve their display of admiration and pride because you ' ve earned them. Graduation is also a time to think about the future and you have much to think about. Your chosen profession will provide you with a sense of well being since as a health care provider, you will gain great satisfac- tion from helping others. Certainly, you have a responsibility to yourself and your family, but you are fortunate in that these responsibilities will be met as you serve the public. From this time on you will be judged by the manner in which our profession serves the public through you as the new gen- eration of dental professionals. This places upon you important obligations t that go along with the rights and privileges of your degree. We want you to know that our doors are open to you as you begin the challenges of your chosen career. The faculty wishes you to consider Columbia always as a home to which you can turn for help and advice in a time of need. Please accept, on behalf of the entire Columbia family, my best wishes. Sincerely yours, H4M i Allan J Formicola, D.D.S Dean lc This year the students of the seventh floor would like to honor Dr. Low. Throughout our clinical training Dr. Low has shown a genuine interest and sensitivity to our learning experience. He has always found the time to help each and every one of his students. His method of teaching operative dentistry has been dominated by a feeling of mutual respect. Therefore, even with the frustrations of dental school Dr. Low remains one of our few bright lights. We are proud to honor one of our colleagues, teacher, and friend. The familiar figure standing over the latest crossword puzzle is indeed a unique individual. Dr. Torresse has a dramatic effect on students. His boundless energy and enthusiasm for teaching are readily apparent to those students waiting in line for his assistance. His technical skill and clinical acumen are enviable, yet he greets even the most basic question with patience and encouragement. Perhaps his most outstanding talent is an ability to make students feel good about their work by providing a stringent yet realistic standard for clinical dentistry. The students of the eighth floor wish to emphatically thank Dr. Torresse for the time, dedication, and keen interest he invested in so many of us. In addition, we thank him for providing a milieu in which learning the basic skills of dentistry was made pleasurable. It is a tribute to the man that these two seemingly separate goals were so effortlessly integrated each day he walked on the clinic floor. PROSTHETICS DR. TORRESE DR. CURINGA DR. ABBOTT DR. MOREA DR.
