wmmmm ' k } Sj JUJL jJ p -- DR. WILLIAM McGILL PRESIDENT OF COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY DR. PAUL MARKS VICE PRESIDENT FOR HEALTH SCIENCES DEDICATION TO MY HUSBAND, THE LECTURES, THE TEACHING, THE CONSULTATIONS, THE PLETHORA OF PUBLISHED WORKS, THE MINISTERING TO PATIENTS: ALL THIS AND THE CONSTANT THINKING, GIVING AND LIVING OF DEN- TISTRY HAS BEEN AN INSPIRATION TO YOUR FAMILY AND ALL THOSE WHO HAVE CROSSED YOUR MANY PATHS. YOU ARE NOW ABOUT TO EMBARK ON A NEW LIFE AND WE ALL HOPE THAT THIS SECOND LIFE OF RETIREMENT IS AS FUL- FILLING AS YOUR FIRST HOWEVER, BEING ALL TOO FAMILIAR WITH YOUR DRIVE AND VERVE, WE MUST ADMONISH YOU WITH THE ADAGE ALONG THE WAY TAKE TIME OUT TO SMELL THE FLOWERS. YOU HAVE HAD A REMARKABLE LIFE AND WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR ALL THE BLESS- INGS WE HAVE RECEIVED. YOUR IRENE To The Class of 1978 Peculiar though it may seem the graduating Class of 1978 is perhaps the most fortunate and unfortunate class in many a year. You were fortunate in that you experienced some of the old and some of the new both in regard to clinical facilities and teaching methods, and, you were unfortunate in that you enjoyed but one year in the midst of the new environment and even that was a shakedown year. We are especially grateful to this class for living with us through two of the most hectic years in the history of our school and you did so with patience and understanding without any signs of complaint. But there was one climatic episode which to a small degree at least compensated for some of our frustrations and dissatisfactions the Dedication Day Ceremony of December 8th, 1977! And what a helpful and delightful role your class played in this memorable day ' s events ! I am especially attached to this class for several other reasons but perhaps the most important is that this is the last class to be graduated during my tenure as dean and as such you will forever hold a particularly warm spot in my heart. Your faculty and your fellow students join me in congratulating every member of the dental and dental hygiene classes for a superb performance record and we are confident that you will continue to do us proud during your professional lives. May the Good Lord bless you with the ethics of a judge, the skills of a professional and the compassion of a saint. E. V. Zegarelli, D. D. S. Dean DR. IRVING J. NAIDORF ASSISTANT DEAN DR. EDWARD V.
