B3Li €T ' f 1 |1 : r 4||fc ■OBf 1 1 We, the staff of this year ' s Dental Columbian would like to express our hope that you will enjoy this yearbook as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you. It is hard to realize that our graduation is imminent indeed these four years have passed almost as quickly as four acts in a play. We hope that the play has been a satisfying one for every senior, and that this yearbook will serve to renew impressions of a part of our lives we will never forget. We wish to every senior the best of luck and Godspeed. EDITORS IN CHIEF Dante M. Torres Richard Haimes PHOTOGRAPHIC EDITORS Herbert Orlansky Paul Kamen LAYOUT EDITORS Olivia Masry Thomas K. Goldsmith I I DR.JOHNKOSINSKI DR.ALVIN BOYD MS?4 + DEDICATION The past four years have been a period of rapid transition, novel expe- riences, acquistion of new skills and ideas, and occasional frustrations. They have been a time for assimilation of professional ideals to the fu- ture professionals. But more than this, he must display compassion and comprehend the needs, troubles and victories of his students. Al Boyd and John Kosinski are young men who understand well the anxieties and frustrations of the dental student. With one kind smile or a softly spoken word both these men have helped us overcome uncertan- ity and uplift our spirit. Drs. Boyd and Kosinski epitomize the highest qualities of our profession. They exemplify perfection, and they have accepted no less from us. To these men we hereby dedicate this yearbook, because they have revealed to us our future, the art and science of the new dentistry. Drs. Boyd and Kosinski, for this the Class of 1975 will be ever grateful to you. A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRODUCER To The Class of 1975 On behalf of the members of the faculty and the supporting staff I extend to the Class of 1975 the warmest and happiest words of congratulations on having earned the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. Unfortunately, however, the happiness of the moment must be tempered with the realization that in becoming a member of the health profession family you have as- sumed huge responsibilities — that of providing the best of total dental health care for your patients and that of constantly improving your knowledge and skills through continuing education to the end of your professional days. I am confident that our faculty has suceeded in firmly instilling the ideals and obli- gations of professionalism and I have the utmost faith that your careers will serve to reflect admirably on dental education at Columbia. The program has been designed to follow from the present curriculum. The essential feature of this program (four day, eight session) is that it employs a modular practice concept which insures comprehensive and continuous dental care to our clinic population and uses dental para-professionals in an expanded fashion. Fourteen third year and fourteen fourth year students selected randomly will constitute each module which will function four days per week. Wednesday will continue to be reserved for electives and other programs. William Blake - V £]L 75 PASQUALE CREMONESE 1 I learned this, at least by my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unex- pected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings. In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less com- plex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness. If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them. From the Conclusion — Walden Henry David Thoreau ?1 76 STEPHEN M. It is true that we shall never reach the goal; it is even more than probable that there is no such place; and if we lived for centuries and were endowed with the powers of a god, we should find ourselves not much nearer what we wanted at the end. O toiling hands of mortals! O unwearied feet, traveling ye know not whither! Soon, soon, it seems to you, you must come forth on some conspicuous hilltop, and but a little way further, against the setting sun, descry the spires of El Dorado. Little do ye know your own blessedness; for to travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive, and the true success is to labor.
