The eosnietology department has a salon where the students can perfect their skills on real customers, after spending many hours in praetiee on mannequins and on each other! Students enrolled in the Praetieal Nursing l'ro- gram haw the option ol' living in a dormitory. The liuilding was eonstrueled with slate funds ana an extension to the hospital with the eriterion that it he used only for COA's praetieal nurses. The housing is free. as an added inventive to those wishing to Come from far away to heeome licensed praetieal nurses. The major objectives of eaeh of the vo- cational programs is to guide both the young and old in acquiring vocational eornpeleney in the knowledge and skills that will help them to beeorne well adjusted and self supporting eit- izens. The programs are designed for beginning students as well as for workers who need new job skills. Students are able to enter the work force in their Chosen profession immediately after grad- uation. Graduates have the teehnieal knowledge necessary to operate the equipment they will Gnd in the work plat-e. More importantly. our shops are supplied with most of the standard machines as well as up-to-date equipment. so students will have experience on both.
