Howard's heroic actions in the Grenada invasion on October 25, 1983 were beyond the call of duty. Piloting the leading attack he- licopter, Howard and his co-pilot were shot down on their fourth pass over St. Georges Medical Center. As a result, he lost his right arm and his right leg was seriously injured. Despite his ordeal, Howard has maintained a strong sense ot per- sonal dignity, We at COA commend Howard for his bravery, and hope that he can be a source ot inspira- tion for us all. 5 l f VA ' r 'Q A - --,V gb, zemzez :Jaws 09 za,-4 zfs mea - zvesflms . , , zesfuffzy AX !g5 X . IKIUV4 f!llSlC51! Brian Huskey has been known to call himself a singer, songwriter, entertainer, and all around nice guy, and his shows at COA have proven that he fits the bill well. Having toured the Southeast extensively, Brian is at home playing in smoke- filled bars as well as in brightly lit college unions, and he has opened shows for well-known acts such as Firefall, Emmylou Harris, and Juice Newton. In songs such as, l'm Proud to be a Redneck from Dum- as, Texas, Brian offers keenly insightful social commentary, and his version of lYou're Myj Hemorrhoidal Honey , left not a dry eye in the crowd. With each visit, Brian Huskey brings another brief flash of warped brilliance to COA. 86 ,701-I ,M 0131615 ON John Morrison is a local attorney who took time out from his busy schedule to explain and interpret the Safe Boads Act to students and staff of coa. The new law, which came into effect in October of 1983, entailed a major reconstruction of drinking and driving laws in North Carolina, and Mr. Morrison's explanation of the changes from a legal perspective enabled students to understand more easily how the law could affect them. Thanks to Mr, Morrison for the valuable information that ignorance of the law is no excuse. 1675 3166!-!fN.7S No, the Big Zucchini Washboard Bandits are not a pack of wild-eyed vegetarians who take pleasure in pilfering laundry implements, as their name may imply, They are, however, a unique threesome who play high- energy, goodetime music including U.S. folk music, country, swing, Applachian fiddle tunes, and greasy blues.
