Howard Jones of the Education Department took over the directorship of the preceptorial program, succeeding Dr. Strang Lawson. The present preceptorial system has been in eHect since 1946. Freshmen meet with their graduate preceptors bi-weekly for both advice and aid in English communication. At this tilneproblems are discussed to help orientate the new student. Preceptors are graduate students who are studying for their Nlasters degrees and supplement their academic work by also serving as Freshman advisors. 23
