SERVING UP SUCCESS The 1982 volleyball team had a great season with a Varsity record of 12 wins and 4 losses. The Junior Varsity team was equally successful with a record of 10-4. The season was successful with the help of new standards and net and returning letterwinners: Sue Earles, Dawn Schroder, and Kristi Van Ekeren. Highlights of the season included: placing 4th in the Southeast Warren Tournament, defeating Johnston one game with a score of 15-1, defeating nth- rated Baxter in regular season play, advancing in sectionals, and defeating the Booster Club and boys’ team at a challenge night. This year’s let- terwinners were: Dawn Schroder, Cindy Snelson, and Meri Withers, seniors; Christy Daft, Sue Earles, Amy Seieroe, and Kristi Van Ekeren, juniors; and Brenda Cogley and Becky Edwards, sophomores- Keep Spiking, Tigerettes! Kristi Van Ekeren was named to the All-State Honorable Mention Team by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Association.

The Colfax Tigerettes, play- ing a very competitive schedule, finished the fall cam- paign with a very creditable 10-7 record. As during the summer season the Tigerettes started slowly, but continued to gain momentum as the season pro- gressed and rode a six game winning streak into Sectional Tournament play. The winning streak included winning the Colfax Fall Classic for the se- cond consecutive year. “We had a fine effort from our squad this fall,” stated Coach Lindsay. ‘‘Playing the rough schedule we had and playing only four of those seventeen games at home I felt our kids performed very well. 24 The junior varsity team end- ed the fall season with a 3-3 mark.
