'Projih tc% 3 3 Aloha Drive Hilo, Hawaii June 1. 1963 Dear Mary, How are you, Eben, and all the little Juniors? I would like to con- gratulate Eben on finally receiving the contract to fix Highway 117. Gary and I have Just returned from a cross-country tour of the United States. I lectured on the editorship of Household Magazines. During our tour I ran across several of our classmates of '53 and I thought you might like to know of their fortunes. While crossing the Pacific on board the ocean liner we happened to meet Mr. Boss, who has finally made his first million from C. H. S. and has retired. Lila and Jack Main were the first ones we saw. They are now living in Death Valley and are in the plumbing business and raising their own lit- tle Main's. While in Hollywood I saw three of our classmates. Thev were Dick All- sup, who has his own photography shop taking cheese cake pictures, Margie Kendall, who has taken Dale Evan's place with Roy Rogers and is doing very well, and Mary Logan, who is now running a boarding house for bachelors. I found Dorothy Doland still waiting on the dock in San Francisco for his sh$ to come in. While in the state of Washington we found Robert Johnson, Esquire, as head barber in a logging camp and specializing in Shaves. If you are ever in Northern Alaska stop in at the Williams Trapping Corporation run by none other than Jack, Ralph, Walter, and John Bill Wil- liams. Their specialty is Polar Bears 1 I was passed by Charlotte Bartlett running a footrace with a polar bear to the Williams Trapping Corporation to see who could get there first. Getting back to the U. S. we stopped at Joe Hadsall's Double R Bar Ranch where Donna May is the general manager and they are raising their own stock. Darren Cllppinger, who is now foreman of the American Airlines in Mon- tana and wife, Pat, are busy trying to keep all the little clippers on the ground. While traveling through the Colorado Mountains we stopped to visit Maggie and Swede who are living next door to Louaine and Dutch and are br- inging up their own little Foothills. Between the sand dunes of New Mexico, we found Joan and Eldon rearing their own little Piles. While passing through Texas we were astonished when we saw a huge man- sion surrounded by oil wells with fourteen kids and a Cadillac belonging to Charles Hadsall with Bev holding half interest. In a quaint mission of Old Mexico we found Marilyn Sample working as a missionary. As we traveled across Arkansas we found David Wharff as Chief Girdle Tester for the Promise Girdle Company. Our next stop was in our old home town of Colfax where we found aever- al of our classmates still there. Among them was Russell Deaton who has gained the pianist's at Joe's Tavern. Amazed at finding Gene Meckley as Superintendent of dear old C. H. S. we were also dumbfounded at finding Charles Lewis teaching social problems and coaching football. We asked about Shirley Shuey and were surprised to find that she and Bob are the major source of supply for the future Colfax basketball teams.
