Because of the high quality of her students as well as her instructors, C.H.S. has grown and developed until she has come to be recognized as one of the outstanding schools in the state. C.H.S. has been praised more and more with every passing year for her schol- ars, her athletes, her leaders - her champions in every field. As 'a result we, the last segment of a long line of students who have Walked her halls, benefit most from the recognition and prestige our school has been acquiring all the years. It is therefore fitting and just that We dedicate the last BLUE and COLD uto Colfax High School and to all those who have attended it, whether to teach or to learn. 32 AdminiStI'ati01'1 Seniors Table of Contents Organizations Classes Sports 'Q . ,- ---- 2- ww uri: 114 ' V ' sf' .,,, --,: W ,,,A -1, 4, - 'ffm g,.:,,g MIN - 5 - I ,,:.,..... POWELL, Principal Symbolizing the democratic form of government is our Student Council, made up of the Student Body officers and class representatives. One of the most important functioning groups in the school, the Council has assisted the fac- ulty in keeping our school program running smoothly, has introduced new and interesting ideas and has passed leg- islation on them, and has sponsored many important activities during the year. Many were its accomplishments. The Student Council sponsored the highly successful Homecoming Day with a huge Bonfire the preceding evening, initiated the Rally Squad, further organized the Pep Band, provided for the minutes of every meeting to be pub- lished in the COLD FACTS, introduced a Welcome Committee for new students, provided movies at noon during the second semester, sponsored the Freeman Cup, and in cooperation with the Eagles made it possible for high school students to Q attend special spring dances in the Eagles' Hall. During the year we, the students, S 1 M enjoyed many interesting student body meetings and programs. - F 8, Many thanks are due to this group of students who have rendered their services V w unselfishly toward the betterment of Colfax High School. Special recognition is A ' due to the chairman, Bill Freeman, to Mr. Powell, the advisor, and to Lynn Steiger 0' l' for cooperating with the other officers and students in achieving one of the most ,I Q L active and interesting years old CHS has ever had. Seniors f X 5' Since beginning high school four years ago, the mighty class of '59 has been through thick and thin together. Winning the cowbell, the games, sponsoring mixers, and their Junior Prom, nAround the Worldf, have all been contributions to the memories they will always cherish. They began their fourth and final year with the Senior-Frosh party. The highlight of the fall was having their float with its theme, 4'Key to the Palouse Empire, win first place in the Whitman County Fair. After seeing both the football and the basketball teams through undefeated seasons, the class of '59 brought to a climax four memorable and enjoyable years in CHS, with the traditional Senior Ball.
