XYith only one veteran, Harold Rock. they managed to go through the entire season with but two defeats: one at the hands of St. john, and the other from Odessa at a time when a trip to the National lforensie Tournament seemed within their grasp. Sir Claud, a scientific genuis, keeps his son, Richard, a prisoner at .Xhhot's Cleve, in order that he might help him with his experiments. Lucia, Richard's wife, is the daughter of the notorious Selma Goetz, which at the time of their marriage was unknown to Richard. F-he was trying to get away from that life. hut is hlackmailed hy Carelh, an international criminal. Sir Cland is murdered. Several are suspected hut llercule Poirot, the little Belgian detective, with the aid of Inspector japp, find the real murderer to he Raynor. Sir Claud's secretary.
