With ever our goal in thought And with eyes looking off into space We bravely have toiled and fought, 'Till we've come to the end of the race. With boldness, the hardest of work We've tackled and fearlessly done, If at times we were tempted to shirk, Our grades went down on the run. And tho' we have had our struggles, We know as the time speeds along, We soon shall forget small troubles But sweet mem'ries can never be gone. We'll long for those days once again, For our friends and the good times we had, For the days with their sunshine and rain When we were so happy and glad. As we go thru the years we will say, The days of our lives that were best The days never gloomy or gray, Were those spent in old C. H. S. Ida Louise Anderson. Bob Baker had the honor of being our Hrst president with Leta Schmick assisting. As Freshmen, we were victorious in defeating the Sophomores in the annual Sophomore' Frosh Supremacy Contest. The Armistice Day parade brought us five dollars, our float being the best. The Seniors put a thrill in our hearts by taking us to the show and the Sophs graced us with a party. As Sophomores, our biggest feature was our Frolic. We also won the Supremacy contest and five dollars in the Armistice Day parade. The Frosh were given a party of which they returned to us. The high school onefact play that won first in the county was made up entirely of Sophs-snot bad for underclassmen, eh? Now, as upperclassmen, we have presented the play The Youngest and thc annual Prom in April. i f -3E 'l oo jr g ' 04, J ,- I O . , f , .eq fa' xg x S Q. ,VJ D - 35 I A 'A 3 ltr Page 29 Advisor ..............., FIRST SEMESTER Harold Heilsburg ........ We were out to wing but so were the Sophomores. A sweet little baby pennant appeared on our wall. To console us for this, the Sophomores entertained us with a party and three weeks later we returned the honor. In the meantime we had organized and elected Ted Walters as President: Harold Heilsburg, VicefPresidentg Maurice Ousley, Secretary, Harold Rock, Treasurer: Elaine Hollingsworth, Yell Leader. For the second semester our ofiicers were Harold Powell, Presidentg Oren Gustaf- son, Vice-Presidentg Dan Meyers, Secretary: Harold Rock, Treasurer, and Emma Schaeffer, Yell Leader. Under the guidance of our advisor, Mr. Kennedy, we finally became important Sophomores. Our pride was again given a setback by the Supremacy contest, but we made the best of our misfortune and gave the Frosh a party, which they later returned. Under the direction of Miss Stewart, our Sophomore class advisor, we gave the annual Sophomore Frolic-a hard time dance 'with the gym decorated in newspapers and burlap. Although the admission charge was only 49c the dance was a financial success, and also everyone expressed their feelings as having a good time at our first dance. Before long, the Seniors descended and took us to a show, when we had recovered from the shock sufhciently, we took them. With the help of Ernie Herman, and several others, we showed the Sophomores up in the annual Supremacy contest, and thus saved ourselves the embarrassment of getting up in front of the assembly and being awarded a baby pennant. The Sophomores, feeling sorry for us, invited us to a party. They must have liked us because they even dated a few of us. After that several Sophs, were seen in the Frosh assembly from time to time. We later returned the party. Acting as Little Sisters of the Senior girls, the Frosh girls were the guests of honor at a party given by the Girls' League. ,...., GT' l 'uma U E N Page 37 .. . www. nw-1--A 'f-33 Yin lf -fw S'?37W5f5?'S 5.w7fL3g?5W ' Q ' ' 5 o A 1 i4 W is DRAMA ,f and DEBATE :L Q. x, H ., Av- 1 -ie. :r'mwws'nn.w+x-:Q:1nw-f-'ang fwuanum up 1 'emmfamaff w1-we-:::.'-xr. The Gray Switch, which was presented by the Dramatic Club under the direction of Mabel Howard was awarded first place. The scene takes place in the sitting and dining room of Hans and Maggie. Maggie who has had little of the beautiful things of life has as one of her greatest desires the purchase of a brown switch to match her hair. Hans, who believes that the saving of money is the most important thing can not understand Maggie's longing to be beau- tiful, but finally he consents to the purchase of a switch which makes Maggie hilarif ously happy. The hairdresser arrives and among the switches Hans finds a gray one which he decides to take as she can wear it for so many years and also it is very cheap.
