DEDHCATHQN To one who has made the language of ancient Rome and the stories of Eliza- bethan England come vividly alive not only to our eyes, but to our minds and hearts as well; to one who has mom or less stimulated our interest as well as our imagination to ALICE PACK, an out- standing model of the teaching profession we gratefully dedicate this, the 1959 CARE DINAL. We see vital forces developing well-rounded, happy, useful characters. The devoted leadership of our adminis- trators, the discussions in our classrooms, the associations with our fellow students, the membership in high-minded organizations, the sacrifice of personal interest in the cause of the school on the plat- form, the football field, or in the staff room, have all taught us. lessons far more important than the factual knowledge of the three ths. Here we see faculty, activities, special events, sports, classes, and advertisements. This is Colerain High School AS WE SEE IT in the year nineteen-hundred and fifty-nine. SUPERHNTENDENT A great deal of credit for making Colerain what it is today belongs to Superintendent EBERLY HAMMACK. His first consideration is for the welfare and proper functioning of the school. The passage of seven bond issues and six operating levies are evidence of his devoted efforts. PRHNCHPAL EDMOND HAMMOND quietly, but efficiently carries out the duties of principal in a high school of 1320 pupils. He is always willing and able to help with a problem. Reputatlon 0f the school and the student are his prime objectives. SHIRLEY ALEXANDER A,B., Texas Tech Math JESSIE LOU BROWN B S., U. of Term. Home Economics CARL BANKS ANN E. BLAIR A.B., U. of Ky. CLUB Every high school student dreams of the day he will receive a letter. He may earn it in Sports, Band, Rhythmettes, Cardettes, Scholarship, or G.A.A. Not Only is the letter itself a thing to be proud of, but now he is eligible to be a member of C-Club. C-Club is a club of many traditions. It is not only a scholastic honor club, but it also sponsors some of the most outstanding sports events of the year. Committee members worked many hours planning and carrying out Football Homecoming, Basketball Homecoming, and the Spring Sports Festival. Plans were begun this year for a spring variety show. It was done on a small scale in May With only C-Club members participating, but in the future it: will probably be open to the entire school A service not often thought of is the concessions at the games. Although these were sold by different organizations, every- thing was ordered by and through C-Club.' Fine officers and good sponsors made all this possible. The seasone record of 4 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie wasn't exceptional; however, the squad was weakened by numerous injuries. Gene Balser and Dan Houston were out for the season. However, Larry Schmalehs hard-hitting backfield ability contributed to a strong offensive team. The defense was very effective, also. The Redbirds scored 136 points to their opponentsh 61. Larry Schmale and Tom Ferguson made the Hamilton County League Ail-Sta: Team. Senior Cards RESERVE FRESHMEN 80 FOOTBALL PLAYERS WERE, FIRST ROW: J. Lockwood, P. Sunderhaus, J. Troescher, B. All the good times are part of the past. We may forget many of Our high school experiences, but the lessons we learned and the difficulties we surmounted have molded our characters and have made us better persons. The measure of greatness of an institution of learning is found in its ultimate product . . . the statute of the men and women it nurtures . . . and their contributions to their communities. We are proud of the high achievements of Our school in sports, in scholar- ship, and in the production of fine citizens. We have tried to show Colerain High School as it was in the year 1959-the most important part of our lives. Our record is com- pleted. We hope that, in the years to come, you Will look back and see Colerain High School in the year 1959 as we have seen it. D WHNTER o o SPRHNG C.
