MICHAEL, we dedicate our book, this, the N1957 Cardinal. 11N3ORGBJJABL8 . . . a varied and exciting year Of laughter and learning, of Cheering and Chaucer, of hoopsters and homework. 1and just think! It all began once upon a time one Tuesday morning, September 4, 1936, when 1112 eager Cardinals brought happy bedlam t0 the quiet halls! Through the months, memories piled up: the snowy mornings we trooped into Typing dripping icicles, football pep assemblies held out in the stadium, Study Hall in the cafeteria because there was no room elsewhere . . . These and many more will skip into View as you turn these pages . . . 1 1 11313030383 UABLS administration . , . the guides along the way-quick advice from Mrs. Hale, admin- istrators who really do understand a teen- efs viewpoint, Mr. Hangs efficient shop classes, Mrs, Pack's talk on Shakespeare that actually made it seem fascinating, Mr. Hammond directing traffic at that busy intersection of main hall-up stairway office, great leaders . . . all of them unforgettable BOARD OF EDUCATION Unforgettable indeed, our wonderful Board of Ed- ucation, which made all of this possible. These fore- sightcd men have 21ny managed the largest grade school in the state, Ohio's largest fleet of school buses, a fast-moving high school, and, at the same time, always planned ahead to keep building capacity abreast of the mushrooming enrollment. It can well be said that the C Club is The Dean of all Clubs? When Mr. Welch began his teaching career in 1941, the athletic club was called Sparta Sports, a fraternity of boys Who had participated in sports. In 1945, after Mr. Welch returned from World War II, he renamed the club C Club, and invited all students who had received CSU in any way to join the club. Our main purposes are to promote Athv letics and Sportsmanship; to foster good fellow- ship between students and faculty; and to build and maintain a great spirit at Colerain at all times, Mrt Welch said. Since its founding, C Club has sponsored such worthwhile events as Football and Basket- ball Homecomings, Mom and Dads Night, the awarding of trophies to the outstanding Senior Athletes in the five major sports, and this year, the first annual Spring Sports Festival.
