Ja. 8337 97 UUEEH BEUULUEIGEL H HLLEII VS Wffifflb' W P17 SEIIIUH CLHSS HISTUHU We the Sen1or Class of 1953 54 entered 1nto our Freshman year at Coleraln H1gh w1th seventy n1ne members The off1cers elected to gulde us were John G1dCOIT1be pres1dent Ralph W1ll1ams v1ce pres1dent Mar1lynn Jostworth secretary and T1m O Connor treasurer From our class there were representatlves 1n var1ous clubs and act1v1t1es Four boys partlclpated 1n football ten 1n basketball and seven 1n baseball E1ght from our class were 1n track Also four band members two majorettes and three cheerleaders represented our class One Freshman g1rl held an Operetta lead A Valent1ne Dance wh1ch proved very successful was the ma1n act1v1ty of the year As our second sesslon convened as Sophomores we chose as our leaders Dave Van Nlman pres1dent Ralph W1ll1ams VICC pres1dent Betty We1gel secretary and Sylvla Breese treasurer SIX of our boys were on the football squad one boy played varslty basketball ten boys were on the reserve basketball squad and four played baseball Three of our g1rls cheered them on We had four band members and two magorettes Ten were out for track One Sophomore g1rl held an Operetta lead A Sweethearts Dance was the h1ghl1ght of the year wh1ch aga1n proved successful As .Tumors we elected as our off1cers Dave Kabbes pres1dent J1m Kornman v1ce pres1dent Jeanette Wenzel secretary and Sylv1a Breese treasurer We entered a float and a candldate for Queen 1nto the I-lomecommg fest1v1t1es Seven of our boys were on the football squad f1ve played basketball and eleven played baseball Three cheerleaders one band member and two majorettes were represented S1x were 1n track Operetta leads were held by two Junlor glrls and one Jun1or boy The rece1v1ng of our class r1ngs was a wonderful event and the selhng of stat1on ery was a money maklng project Allen Dav1s was chosen to head the annu l staff wh1le Jeanette Wenzel was elected publ1cat1ons manager The year came to a close w1th the annual Jr Sr Prom 1n the gymnasmm The theme was MERMAID FANTASY Fall of 1953 marked the beg1nn1ng of our Sen1or year Our class elected Dave Van N1man pres1dent Don Stolzenberger v1ce pres1dent Thelma Bachman secretary and .loan Jacob treasurer Marg1e Floyd and Rose Freytag were chosen as ed1tor and co ed1tor of the Car d1nal Qu1ll Two boys part1c1pated 1n football four 1n basketball and three 1D baseball Eleven from our class partlclpated 1n track From our class there were three cheerleaders four band members and two majorettes Three g1rls and one boy held Operetta leads Several members of our class par t1c1pated 1n the one act plays and the three act plays Through all four years of h1gh school we had representatwes 1n var1ous clubs and act1v1t1es We had hayr1des part1es and many other good t1mes The h1ghl1ghts of the year were the annual Chrxstmas Dance Class N1ght Bacca laureate and Commencement Comphrnents of ARLINGTON MEMORIAL GARDENS , - ' 1 1 ! . . . . . .
