Those participating in Forensics were George Blackburn, Lois Her- man, Marianne Krause, Richard Kapla, Roger Bintz, Janet Klapste, Craig Schwartz, and Pauline Harley. They are glad to state that a great maiority of their Freshman boys went out for athletics. They have certainly made an excellent showing, on the gridiron, as well as the basketball court. 'N--x it S CHICAGO It was Sunday, October 30, that about fifty excited Seniors boarded the southbound train tor Chicago. Even tho it was the first time on a train for most ot us, we quickly over came this and settled down tor a rip-roaring trip. Before we realized it, we arrived in Chicago, and were taxied to the stately Morrison Hotel where we were to stay tor most ot the week. During the end of our visit in the Windy City we lived in the wonderful Conrad Hilton hotel. Our daily schedules were always completely filled with new and exciting excursions. Some of the busi- ness tirms and public buildings we visited in the day- time were the Museum of Science and lndustry, the Midway Airport, the Brooktield Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, the Alder Plantarium, a Style Show at Marshall Fields, the Natural History Museum, the U. S. Steel Company, the Ford Company, and Chinatown. We traveled to and from these places in a combination ot C. T. A. Buses or taxis. 'Q Qriiil Page Twenty-two 'A vi. w. Red Sails in The Sunset, was the theme of this annual Junior Prom, and was portrayed by a colorful scene on the back wall consisting ot a colorful sunset and a sailboat in the billowing ocean waves. Guests were served punch in quaint cobblestone huts situated on the sides of the dance floor. Especially memorable was the three dimensional effect to the decorations planned by the committee, headed by the chairman, Shirley Thompson. The evening was highlighted by the crowning of the queen Janice Woulf by the king, Roger Thibodeau. Members of the court were Lois Semrau and Charles Oleck, Seniors, Violet Kienitz and Ken Behrend, Juniors, Pat Melcher and Joe Banazsak, Sophmores, and Marilu Charnesky and Dick Kramer, Freshmen. The co- captains elected by the team were Paul Evan and George Feidorowicz. Due to excitement and perhaps a little unorganization, we lost our first two games. In our third game, against Preble, we won a thrilling contest by a one point margin. The final score of our first victory was Coleman 55, Preble 54. We here at Cole- man made that introduction, developing a team and engaging in seven dual matches, winning 2, loosing tive. Despite our record ot wins and losses, Cole- man scored over the season 134 points to 141 for the opposition, most ot which were teams with one or two seasons behind them. There were several outstanding records made by the Cougar wrestlers, most im- pressive being that made by freshman Jim- my White in the 120 pound class who went through the regular season undefeated in seven matches. Ralph Peterson had a re- cord ot six wins and one draw: Sylvan King, 5-2, Leroy Cudnoski 4-1-1. Cary Bunk- er and Ken Patz, wrestling at 157 and 147 pounds, each had 3-4 records, though Bunk- Page er wrestled out of his class three times. The Coleman lineup for most of the season included Jerry Risner and Urb Johnson at 103 pounds, Ralph Peterson, 112, Jimmy White, 120, Leroy Cudnoski, 128, Sylvan King, 136, Ken Patz and Jerome Brault 145, Carry Bunker and Duane Giese, 155, Jerry Tobison and Eugene Wieczorek, 165, Roger Greason 182, and Bob Pillath, heavyweight. This year is the seventh in which a Student Council has been active in Cole- man High School affairs. Regular meetings of the Council were held each Wed- nesday during alternate periods. At the meetings school problems were discussed and class and social activities were arranged. The activities of the Student Council began with the installation of officers soon after their election. Another new activity this year has been the Student Break period between the first and second periods in the morning. The purpose of the break is to provide an opportunity for students to get together socially and to get some refreshment during the morning session. Other activities con- tinued this year were the Homecoming Parade and Dance, the Red Cross drive, the Save the Children clothing drive, the Christmas Party which included the collecting and distribution of canned goods for the needy families in the area, and the March of Dimes auction and house-to-house canvas. The officers attended the State Conference of Student Councils which was held in Green Bay this year. v .wary - wif i'v 'l I it A Q21 , Page lliirty-tliruu DRAMATICS 990 Hi lst row, left to right-M. The Dramatics club is open to all students of Coleman High School, and all students are encouraged to join. Probably the largest objective of the club is to have students become in- terested in the field of dramatics, and to be active in the plays, skits, etc. pre' sented by the club. Students from any class are eligible to try-out for the three one-act plays which are presented each year. The proceeds of these plays are divided among the four high school classes, as well as the Dramatics Club. This year, the club presented three plays entitled, Uncle Tom's Crabbin , a comedy. The plays were presented January l6. A group from the club went to the Hickory Grove Sanatorium when a presentation was presented for the patients there.
